UPI was free by law.
Modi govt just removed that statutory guarantee.
Door now open for MDR charges.😡
Timing? Right after 🇺🇸USTR’s 2026 report slammed free UPI & RuPay for “driving out” Visa-Mastercard.
Is digital public infrastructure being diluted to please American card giants under Trump pressure?
RBI transferred ₹2.86 lakh crore surplus. A fraction could have funded UPI forever.
There are so many skeletons in the BJP's closet that the doors can no longer hold them shut. Every now and then, another skull comes tumbling out.
Of the ₹2,192 crore disbursed as soft loans to 22 companies, 15 beneficiaries are reportedly linked to the panel.
If an independent newspaper could uncover this, the government certainly could have.
This wasn't a failure to detect. It was a conscious decision to look the other way. Thanks for flagging this issue @pravchak.
There has been a lot of heat and dust over data comparing UPA and NDA second avatar infra phases.
Since I am kattarpanthi AB... Of data, that is, let me show you what the fallacies are in the view " NDA did way better than UPA".
Reality: it did similar, not way better or worse.
It's simply compounding/ progression math.
Let's take some actual data + some simplified data
India's GDP in 04 was ~$ 700 billion. In 2014, when UPA went, it was ~2.1 trillion dollars.
So, our GDP tripled in those 10 years, in USD terms
Now, India spent ~ 5% on GDP/ year on infra.
Let's, for illustration, assume all of this went into Roads.
Assume further, 1 road costs 1 billion dollars to make.
Also, since land mass of a country is fixed, assume that India needs 5000 roads in total. That's the maximum absorption of roads we can take given our area.
We are trying to keep this simple, okay?
Hypothetical simplified example:
So, in Year 1, UPA built 35 roads: 5% of 700 billion = $ 35 billion infra spending, all on roads. 1 billion/ road, so 35 roads Year 1.
By Year 2014, India's GDP was ~$2.1 trillion USD. At 5% of GDP ($100 billion), exactly 100 roads were added in that single year, bringing the 10 year cumulative total to~ 700 roads, completing 15% of the 5,000-road absorption capacity.
NDA era: 15-26
In our hypothetical, simplified example, During the 12-year NDA period from 2014–15 through 2025–26, India's GDP grew from 2.1 trillion to ~3.9 trillion, so less than 2x vs 3x in the UPA era.
However,
India constructed a cumulative total of 1,700 roads in this period.
Annual output began at 100 roads in 2014–15 and expanded to 196 roads per year by 2025–26 as the economy grew from ~$2.1trillion to ~$3.9 trillion USD.
When comparing the 10-year UPA baseline (2004–05 to 2013–14, which built 700 roads or 15% of demand) to this 12-year NDA block (2014–15 to 2025–26, which built 1,727 roads), the cumulative output across both eras combined reaches ~2,400 roads (48% of overall national capacity).
Within that combined total, the 2004–14 UPA period accounts for 28% of all roads built, while the 2014–26 period accounts for 72%.
So, NDA did 3x better??😀. In WA Univ Math class, yes.
BUT BUT BUT
Comparing the 1,700 roads built in the 2014–26 block to the 700 roads built in the 2004–14 block shows a ~2.6x increase in total output.
Because both periods are evaluated using the exact same benchmark (5% of GDP allocated to roads), the higher annual output in later years is a natural byproduct of working off a much larger GDP base.
BUT FOR PEOPLE, it's an optical illusion:
Because land mass is fixed, a higher absolute amount is getting invested in roads at a larger GDP size, which visibly looks huge.
So, in 2026, in our example, 200 roads were built in that one year ALONE.
That's what UPA built in 3 years,😊, and this gets Twitter into a tizzy. " This government is 3x better. It added 3x roads in its period vs Congress".
But this is simply base effect.
Visibly, therARE MORE ROADS in 2026 vs 2014. So, wonderstruck people will say " See how many roads built. Like huge. This Govt is doing a great job"
That's nonsense, as we can see from our simplified example.
Unless a government alters the spending percentage markedly, ( say, from 5% to 2% or 8%) the absolute amounts don't matter from an analytical sense but matter a lot from a visual perception sense.
From a real world data stand point, MORTH
official data shows that between FY 2004–5 and FY 2013–14, India constructed over 48,000 km of National Highways under the NDA administration, compared to approximately 90000 km constructed during the 10-year NDA period (2023–2024).
The reality is a lot of worse for the NDA than in our example.
And that is because infra spending as % age in the last few years has been lower than what was done under the UPA era.
And that's all there is to this round of Andhbhakts vs Reverse Bhakts.
This is minor cronyism in this govt, done without blinking. The big ones are the ports, airports, mines to Adani & contracts to Adani & firms of BJP leaders & those who donate to BJP via electoral bonds etc.
The level of corruption now is many times of peak UPA govt

Dear Indian Infra bros,
These are tiny roads in West Cork in Ireland which gets 1200-2800 mm of rain every year.
They are all asphalt. No concrete roads. And hardly any potholes.
Stop glamorizing Fadnavis & Gadkari who are robbing you blind to enrich their buddies.
PMO summoned Meta officials yesterday under the pretext of PM Modi's video takedown. But the real motive was to tighten the grip around Genz & anti-govt content.
Anything remotely critical of PM Modi gets taken down instantly, even if you don't name him.
Several of my Instagram posts have been restricted in India, where I satarized him without taking his name.
PM Modi was never a tolerate person, but now his insecurity is increasing with his age. He loves it when people call him tough, but fears of being mocked. Meta seems to get along with him atleast for now.

POCSO case against protest leaders because a 12 year old minor attended their protest.
No POCSO case against those who leaked private details of a 15 year old minor, which lead to severe mental and sexual harassment, rape and death threats.
This is how state machinery works.
Our interview with 23-year-old Shradha Singh who is being abused online over a reel has been deleted AGAIN on Instagram. We first posted it on Monday night, it got deleted on Tuesday. We then posted it again Tuesday evening, and it was removed yesterday again, no reason given.
Nitin Gadkari’s claim — India’s roads will be at par with America’s.
Reality — The Lucknow–Kanpur Expressway, inaugurated by Nitin Gadkari just 20 days ago, has already undergone repair work for 5 times. It was built at a cost of ₹4,700 crore.
This is the most corrupt government in India’s history.
Thank you every one and @RahulGandhi sir for all the love, support, appreciation it makes all the difference ♥️and I’d say haters but what they are doing is criminal so to whoever you serve, your narrative can’t change the reality.

UP Government has ordered schools to be shut for nine-days due to Kanwariyas, of course education is not a priority. Online classes are a joke!
Come winter, they will again shut schools due to pollution. Same story during summer. They are playing with the future of kids. Schools shut but on the other hand if you look around, every other day a new liquor shop pops up in Noida/Ghaziabad/Greater Noida
Gujarat Deputy CM was seen roaming in Glasgow CWG arena like a champion of champions.
But the fact is that even after 31 years of BJP rule in Gujarat, the state contributes nothing to India's CWG or Olympics medal tally.
He was there just because Gujarat controls the cashflow of sports in India. PM Modi's partisan policies ensured that Gujarat gets the maximum share of central sports budget, maximum events hosting and maximum infra investment. Sadly inspite of all this, they are unable to produce even a single athelete who could compete at national levels, let alone the global stage.
CWG 2030 will be hosted in Ahemdabad, then Haryana & Punjab will sweat it out in the field and the Gujarati business community will do overtime on cash registers. ✌🏼
