Today on #earthday a short clip of flying along prairie creek in Nahanni National Park Reserve. We had spent the day flying along the road being constructed to the Prairie Creek mine. The Guardians will be monitoring this construction to ensure that Prairie Creek is protected.

This program will have a large role in the recently agreed to co-management of the park between Nahanni Butte and Parks Canada. The park is a crown jewel of the Canadian Parks system and one of the first ever UNESCO World Heritage Sites, with good reason.

Today, I learned how quickly the NWT river crossings close for the winter. No ice in the Liard River at Nahanni Butte yesterday. Today the ice was flowing, and the boats are being pulled out. Now the isolation period starts until it is safe to drive across the river ice.
