Trump and the Right have weaponized false claims of antisemitism to smear pro-Palestinian protesters, and they’re using this lie as a smokescreen to destroy higher ed.
As Jewish academics, we call on everyone to debunk this big lie and start telling the true story.

The past few years have really shown the problems with U.S. presidentialism: The American executive is seemingly powerless to do much good but free to do great evil
The lesson of the Holocaust was not that the Nazis were uniquely evil. The lesson was that anyone can become a Nazi. You're witnessing this with America right now.
The US is experiencing what Nazi "jurist" Carl Schmitt called the "state of exception," wherein the Führer suspends the law to maintain "order." In this way the bill of rights is eliminated, ppl are disappeared, & worse. Imperative we not allow the exception to become the rule!
Too many people think that the lesson of the holocaust was that Nazis were uniquely bad, when the real lesson was that it is very easy to turn people into Nazis
Every form of protest will be domestic terrorism within the year. This is what the "War on Terrorism" bequeathed us. The end of our civil liberties didn't begin with Trump, it's the chronicle of a death foretold by the overreaction to 9/11.
The Constitution is not self-executing. It only gets enforced when we create and fund specific mechanisms to enforce it. And it relies on an amazing group of public defenders and civil rights lawyers like @CivRightsCorps across U.S. who could all be making more money elsewhere.
All of 21st century American history has been leading towards this moment, the War on Terror as the beginning of the end of constitutional government in the United States
An anthropologist named Margaret Mead said a healed femur is the first sign of a civilization. That meant someone stayed with them and cared for them, no one was left behind.
Thank you Cornell students & faculty for inviting me to speak on campus last night about Trump's executive orders, the threat to free speech, non-citizen students like @MomodouTaal, danger of dictatorship & the way to fight back. Many important pts made by all.

you know what's interesting? there's a very real fear of Tr*mp and El*n defying court orders but the refrain is always "there's no enforcement mechanism" which is true...when it comes to those in power. Cops are happy to enforce court orders when it comes to my client's lives.
If you paid attention in history class you know what’s coming next.
More propaganda blaming minorities for everything, mass arrest and censorship of political and ideological opponents, deportations, and increased state sanctioned violence. How will the people respond?
