Very important UK parliament petition. Disabled children who genuinely need education provision outside of regular school (EOTAS/EOTISC) are a minority but must retain their legal protections. Please join me in signing. https://t.co/V6tAwOYiu5
@ZiaYusufUK@ThePosieParker For the purpose of this policy does “foreign nationals” include 1) Irish nationals, 2) Commonwealth nationals with right of abode in the UK, 3) EU/EEA nationals with settled status pre-brexit?
This headline makes it sound as if the Reform Cllr wanted Nigerians to do the road maintenance.
The actual quote was “the amount of Nigerians in town.
Should melt them all down and fill in the pot holes!!”
How on earth could Tice not bring himself to condemn that?
To every European politician, NGO, and commentator celebrating today’s “historic” sanctions on 3 settlers and 4 settler organizations: I invite you to come live among the nearly 700,000 settlers imposed on Palestinians across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem — and then explain to us how sanctioning a microscopic fraction of the project is supposed to look like justice.
A settler colony is not dismantled by sanctioning its PR problem.
@charliecolecc@PaulEmbery I wasn't aware of that Scottish Law nor do I understand its status vs UK law. However the established principle in UK law is that any Commonwealth or Irish citizen can stand for election so it wouldn't have made a difference to eligibility for Indian students.
Whilst welcome, West Bank settler violence has the tacit support of the government. To have integrity and impact, the sanctions must therefore be imposed on Israel generally, not just on West Bank settlers.
EU Foreign Ministers just gave the go-ahead to sanction Israeli settlers over violence against Palestinians.
They also agreed new sanctions on leading Hamas figures.
It was high time we move from deadlock to delivery.
Extremisms and violence carry consequences.

This is beginning to seem a little reminiscent of when Blair was forced set out his timetable for departure. Except the numbers are fewer and not-as-big-hitters.
Congratulations to all those who took part in the TCS @LondonMarathon - now officially the biggest marathon race EVER!
59,830 runners crossed the finish line on a glorious day in London ☀️

@GWR@RoyalOsteoPro@LondonMarathon Congratulations Megan! We spoke briefly on the course when you explained the record you were attempting and that you had to beat 5 hours.
Megan Sullivan proved that she is officially amazing and successfully broke the record for the fastest marathon with unilateral hip replacement (female) in 4:44:33 - what a remarkable achievement! ✨ @RoyalOsteoPro#LondonMarathon@LondonMarathon
As Mrs Thatcher once said “Advisers advise, ministers decide.” I don’t think what has emerged, so far, warrants a resignation but it’s the PM not his adviser who is accountable for appointing Mandelson as U.S. Ambassador. #McSweeney#EpsteinFiles
⚠️ Reuters has now confirmed what many suspected.
In early 2024, U.S. diplomats blocked internal cables describing northern Gaza as an “Apocalyptic Wasteland.” The reports included harrowing details: human bones scattered in the streets, bodies left abandoned in cars, & a total collapse of access to food, clean water, and medical aid.
These cables were not speculation. They were based on first-hand field observations from U.N. agencies & humanitarian workers on the ground.
So why were they blocked?
Because they were considered “too graphic.”
Because they “lacked balance.”
Because they might make Israel look bad.
Senior officials at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, including Ambassador Jack Lew & Deputy Chief Stephanie Hallett, stopped the reports from reaching higher levels of the U.S. government. They feared the cables would contradict the administration’s public narrative & disrupt ongoing political cover for Israel’s actions in Gaza.
According to former officials, humanitarian experts were sidelined, ignored, & outright dismissed. Inside meetings, the question from officials was not how to respond to starvation, but reportedly, “Where are all the skinny kids?”
This was not merely policy misjudgment, but complicity on a grand scale.
The Biden administration had access to concrete evidence of mass death, starvation, & social collapse. Instead of sounding the alarm, it chose to suppress the truth to preserve its political position.
They did not just ignore the warnings. They buried them.
Let that sink in.

A case study in how @British_Airways, by setting impossibly high tier point hurdles, is going to lose a lot of money/big paying customers.
Planning my next trip to NYC in Spring. Normally I’d do business Nice-London on BA, return first class London-NYC-London and business London-Nice, fitting in a few working days in London there and back. All up the fares would come to around £5,000 for flights in second half of April. A lot of money — especially since it comes out of my pocket. Nobody picks up my expenses. But at my age I like to travel in comfort.
And I like the BA crews.
However now that the tier point hurdle is too high for renewing guest list status for all but perpetual travellers, why bother planning a schedule round BA flights?
I’ve booked Nice-NYC-Nice first class return on Delta for just over €3,000. No brainer, really. Direct flight, almost half the price. And @British_Airways will lose £5,000. Plus much more if this now becomes my regular NYC schedule.
I can’t tell you the number of people I know now doing similar flight schedule planning which simply removes BA from the planning, when it used to be at the centre.
And, yes, I know it’s most definitely a first-world problem! But BA makes most of its money from passengers flying first/business. With fewer of us the fares of premium/economy passengers will rise.
Well done @British_Airways. How to stuff loyal, high-paying customers of longstanding for no good reason whatsoever.
Hi @Delta. Thanks for reserving me seat 1A both ways! Can’t wait.
@Amcinhk@afneil@British_Airways Indeed Delta does not have a First cabin across Atlantic. For that the options are @airfrance > @British_Airways > @AmericanAir. AA is still flying First BTW but only on older planes until the cabin is are refurbished away. I got an upgrade to AA First on a DFW-LHR leg in Nov25
@afneil@British_Airways Delta also alliance partners with @VirginAtlantic and @AirFranceKLM. The latter probably your best bet for both status and rewards (no extra points deducted for reward flight connections in Paris or Amsterdam and lower taxes).
