Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood's response to the pushback to his collaboration with Israeli musician Dudu Tassa goes beyond pointing out that shutting down collaborations between Middle Eastern artists will do nothing to bring peace.
He also points out that Jews have a long history in Yemen and Iraq, including Tassas's grandfather, who was a famous composer in Iraq.
My Jewish family was driven out of Iraq. I know that those trying to shut down our music are just mad they didn't totally destroy our culture, like they wanted.
Shutting down music has nothing to do with helping Palestinians, and everything to do with the continual cultural erasure and persecution of the Jews of the Middle East.
Thank you @JnnyG for standing up to hate.

Way too much excitement going around about gov’t employment benefits. Glad we can help people in need - it’s important. But I hope those that can get by without help are doing so with pride. #CERB This too shall pass, and then we’ll all have to help pay the bill.
In dealing with #COVID19 there a lot more people working on the front lines to help us and keep us safe. Let's watch out for them as they watch out for us. @tema_foundation is the best in the business to help. #mentalhealth

Getting an email every hour from another business that I custom, explaining reduced hours and services. My heart goes out to the owners, staff, and suppliers. Those small businesses take risk everyday to do what they ❤️ and bring us the products and services we ❤️. #SmallBiz
Yeah @naama_blonder, spreading the #YIMBY gospel. @CityPlanTO “Be Brave!!” Beyond TO, my fav cities in the world (LON, VIE, MTL, PAR, BCN) embrace 3-6 storeys. Gentle density could: ✅ Maintain neighbour character. ✅ Reduce housing cost. ✅ Help save our shops! #TOpoli
"This whole notion of protecting neighbourhoods is something that belongs to the past. This is a conversation that they should have stopped having in the 70s." https://t.co/LbUbmXtTJc
We're building a lot of housing, so we must be building enough housing. True?
We're in a building boom and prices are still going up, so supply must not be the answer. True?
We're building more housing than we ever have in the Toronto CMA. True?
Showed one of our #coliving suites to a ridiculously nice Indian guy yesterday. Left SF because he didn’t have a hope of a green card. 10th of his friends to move to the GTA from SF in 18 mos. ... #OhCanada
All we need to do is provide market rate housing, and a warm welcome. The spin off benefits will be incredible. #Diversity, economic growth, and a culture of innovation and education. It’s why 🇨🇦 is the best country in the world.
He’s an engineer for a medical device firm in Mississauga and wants to live, car-less, in Toronto’s West End. Prob earns $100k+ and will HAPPILY pay 40-50% in taxes to have clean air and water, healthcare, opportunity, and a friendly welcome. Great deal for us, I’d say!
