Thank you to BBC News NI for highlighting the USA–NI 250 programme and the shared histories it will explore. Donaghmore Historical Society is pleased to be contributing work rooted in Donaghmore, Dungannon and the wider district. #USANI250#Heritage
When you think of the 250th birthday of America, it might not be Cullybackey or Strabane that first comes to mind.
But Ulster-Scots enthusiasts and American history buffs are hoping to cement links.

Sorry to sound gushing, but I feel so incredibly privileged to have been in Rome this week. Exploring the legacy of Francis and his contributions to our shared lives has taught me so much. It has been inspiring. Weeks like this are why I became a journalist.

As someone from a protestant background, living in East Belfast, I'm excited that my daughter could be educated in Irish, and I think you should sign this.
When time take a breath. Beautiful from @INPHOjames
Thank you for all your lovely comments around coverage. It was a privilege to be there. What a game we have❤️
@ArmaghFans1889@thomasniblock@BBCSPORTNI Hopefully @BBCSPORTNI will now start showing more of these games. GAA football and hurling has a bigger following than some of the directors realise. Compare these games to soccer? There’s no comparison to the excitement, dedication and devotion or a voluntary sport.
These tweets are incredible 👏🏻
@thomasniblock and @BBCSPORTNI have brought our sport to a brand new audience, it has been watched all over the UK today and the response is unbelievable.
I have for a long time tried to explain GAA to friends and family over in both England and Scotland, today they where just told to watch it and see for themselves. The passion, intensity, skill and heart both Cork & Clare showed there today was absolutely jaw dropping, edge of the seat stuff and we are so lucky to have this sport
Next weekend they get the chance to see another code as another two counties go head to head in the football final, if it's as half as good as that today we are in for another treat 🙌🏻
What a sport 💪
Ps, you might have to zoom in on the photo to see the tweets 🔎

Covered every blade of grass - and brought some home with him!
@GaaClare captain Tony Kelly celebrates, with grass stuck in his helmet, at the final whistle after his side's victory over Cork in the #AllIrelandFinal today!

“There are no words”
I’ve heard that so many times and there aren’t, but there are actions.
Every hug, every handshake, every message & phone call, we have been comforted and supported.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your care.
