Everyone's talking about AI-generated HTML.
But have you tried giving your sites a zero-config API for saving data, file storage, AI, websockets, etc?
We did this at Shopify. Runs on a single VM that costs $200/month, and it's changed the way we work.
We call it Quick 👇🧵
Thanks to Shopify for another opportunity to build something beautiful and unusual. Every Black Friday we try to ship something magical. This year we shipped a pinball machine that reacted to live data. A lot of details are lost from afar, so here's a close-up 🙂
The Shopify Live Globe is back this Black Friday!
And we built a pinball game out of it.
It runs at 120fps in a browser with a full 3d environment, physics engine, VR support and more. 👀
Working on Shopify's BFCM Globe with my friends is the most fulfilling thing I have done in my career. Thank you Shopify for the opportunity to work on beautiful and unusual things.
Every time a sale is made on @Shopify this Black Friday weekend, it shows up on this 3D globe.
It runs at 120fps in the web with a full 3D environment, physics engine, music synth, VR support, and more.
It’s hard to believe it's a React app 👀🧵
Here we go!
🌐 BFCM weekend has officially started in the first time zones, so let's go live.
This is the best Live Globe experience yet. Beautiful. And what's even better than a bfcm globe? One in a room full with toys and tools to make it your own. We may have gotten a little bit carried away there... 😇
Take a look at how we built the Black Friday globe with react-three-fiber, threejs, and a ton of custom shaders.
The secret to performance is instancing!
Can’t wait to show you what we’re cooking up this year.
@shl@tobi@Shopify Man I think this tweet is crazy Sahil. Tobi is a great person. He cares about merchants and creators as much as you do. You are both on the same team. Don't let an algorithm push you to insult someone without knowing them 🙁
@antimatter15 Kevin do you mind if I ask you, how did create these cropped splats? https://t.co/Cxl5FHG7jR
Lots of tools let you crop splats in the viewer, but none let you export cropped splats, so I'm curious how you did it. Thank you!
