Judge Hlophe is clear

The MK Party is proud to announce the appointment of former Judge President of the Western Cape, John Hlophe, as our new Leader in Parliament.

Judge Hlophe's distinguished career and unwavering Pan-African outlook have established him as a formidable force against systemic racism, particularly in the Western Cape.

His reputation as an impeccable jurist and seasoned activist, who believes in an African based judicial system, makes him an ideal leader for the MK Party and South Africa at this crucial time.

Appointed as a judge in 1995, Judge Hlophe became the first black judge to be permanently appointed to the Western Cape High Court at the age of 36.

He was also the first full-time academic appointed as a High Court Judge. In 2000, he ascended to the role of Judge President, a position he held for 24 years, until his removal by the DA/ANC coalition grouping.

Judge Hlophe's academic credentials are equally impressive, holding a PhD from the University of Cambridge, England, and an LLD (honoris causa). He also earned a B Juris from the University of Fort Hare and an LLB from the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, as well as an LLM from the University of Cambridge, England.

Despite enduring 15 years of harassment and facing unlawful removal by the DA/ANC coalition, Judge Hlophe has remained steadfast in his fight for justice for the disenfranchised.

We are humbled by his legal expertise, which will prove invaluable as we navigate any legal challenges the DA/ANC coalition may attempt to orchestrate.

The MK Party is honoured by Judge Hlophe’s willingness to join us in our mission.

We aim to unite progressive activists to build a formidable party capable of defeating the DA/ANC coalition, expropriating land without compensation, and nationalizing strategic industries, thus ensuring that all South Africans, especially Africans, share in the wealth of their ancestors.
