@StanfordWGolf Congratulations Champs! So impressive and so deserved. Enjoy the spoils of all your hard work, and take a moment to savor the unique gift of teammates. This experience will be with you all for a lifetime.
@TimAlberta@brianstelter As the father of a profoundly autistic son, so much of your (beautifully shared), story sounds familiar. Many of the same hopes, and fears, and a wish that I had your gift to be able to convey so many often conflicting feelings in such a moving way. Thank you for sharing.
@TennisChannel One thing to consider is that the majors also fund local tennis initiatives nationally in their respective countries. Players should likely be entitled to a larger %, but leagues like the NBA, NFL, don’t have funding responsibilities for grassroots development of their sports.
@UsedGolfFacts If it finds an investor, it should continue. But then it will need to demonstrate there’s a TV/streaming audience for it, (which will provide the $ it needs to add to its roster of players). Will be interesting to see how many current stars stay with new/lower economic stakes.
@CPowers14@kclairerogers He’s also making it harder for other, potentially returning players to complain. If Brooks is prepared to go through this process, harder for players, (even Bryson), with fewer majors to take a more aggressive stance.
@ProGolfCritic@TGL Will give you Bryson and Rahm and add perhaps Cam Smith or Niemann, but this list doesn’t include Scheffler, Cam Young, Fleetwood, Ludwig, Hovland, Morikowa, who I would argue are more compelling than the other LIV names on that list
@mrmckee More accurate to say, “more interest among YouTube viewers” in LIV than Valspar. Far more viewers, (and therefore interest?), in Valspar based on TV viewership, (and total viewership), compared to TV viewership of LIV. Not a knock against LIV, but YouTube vs TV = apples/oranges
@NickNovinsky As investors, they’re patient, but not irrational. Expect their new five-year plan to dramatically revise the economics around LIV to reflect the challenges since inception, and realities moving forward.
@Schrock_And_Awe@HashtagChad How were the ratings? At the end of the day, investment in production will be tied, to expected viewership. Great to see they chose to upgrade the broadcast, and hope they believe it’s worth continued support.
@TheShotgunStart@fried_egg_golf@AndyTFE@BrendanPorath LIV is a great idea to bring high-quality golf to underserved markets like SA and Australia. The business model is unsustainable absent significantly higher US TV ratings, (higher than PGAT). If that’s the lane they choose, great. But will be hard to attract and keep top players
@RichLightShed Not sure it’s as much that they’re out of touch as many of the things that made the Oscars special, (eg. celebrity access), and number/range of viewing/entertainment choices, has changed dramatically over that same time period.
