@LAdelaideS@mayorofhackney @carowoodley @WGHaggerston@MayorofLondon@GroundworkLON Such a lovely addition to the basin. The willow perimeter is a wonderful detail. I look forward to seeing everything grow and the wildlife arrive. Thanks so much to all involved for your hard work!
Projects from London-based architecture studio @tonkin_liu create symbiotic structures that connect art, building and nature @BathArtists until 5 December https://t.co/s4wHCr4SdH
@rktecture@RIBA @RIBASouthEast @Rural_Office@GrandDesigns Agree grouping seemed a bit arbitrary. Groups aside there were some great houses on both shortlist and long list. Lots I'd like to visit for a closer look.
Other buggers efforts (OBE)
1) Patrick the project manager. Appointed by James to manage the job on site, steady the ship and keep everyone in line. He’s not a sergeant major, just a pragmatist with charm. A country boy at heart who keeps fit and keeps hens.
Thank you Patrick.
@rktecture@RIBA @RIBASouthEast @Rural_Office@GrandDesigns Its also worth examining the relationship between cost and architectural merit. Is something better because its more affordable, or worse if expensive? Architecture is in the public domain so always a question worth asking.
@rktecture@RIBA @RIBASouthEast @Rural_Office@GrandDesigns Thats a good question. The RIBA jury did receive that information but the client wished it to be confidential. Some clients want their details and costs to remain private. If disclose was mandatory a lot of interesting buildings may not come be published or put forward for awards
Thank you for the out-take Michelle. I
Its a straight arm and turn of the wrist in a figure of eight movement with the paddle ! https://t.co/6jUyDAJuDt
Thanks to DHA Planning for their expertise and detailed knowledge of PPS7 and Para 55 which helped us to achieve planning consent and help make this house possible.
Huge congratulations to Caring Wood our WINNER of #HouseOfTheYear 2017! If you have a question for architects James (@macdonaldwright) and Niall (@Rural_Office) you can tweet them using their handles above. 🏆🏡
Thanks to all at the P&M team for their amazing engineering work especially with the complex CLT structure and challenge of designing such a structure for a steeply sloping site. https://t.co/c8ocjHV7zg
Sustainability in architecture is expected, but I believe regionalism, craft and the interpretation of the vernacular are also valuable. Delighted that at Caring Wood, this is recognised. Only possible with a dedicated team and a uniquely supportive client. Thanks to them all.
