The 3rd qtr went back-&-forth with multiple ties & multiple lead changes. Hanover-Horton scored the final FG of the 3rd to go up 31-30 & then scored the 1st two FGs of the 4th to extend the margin to 5. They still led 35-31 with less than a minute left when a Jonesville defensive rebound led to an old-fashioned 3-pt play by Haley Mach on the fast break. After H-H split a pair of FTs, Megan Lee hit a pair for Jonesville to send the game to OT tied at 36.
With the score tied at 40 in the final 30 seconds of OT, Alexis Trine scored on a power drop step in the post to put Jonesville up, but Maggie Soper got the ball off a basket cut to the block & hit a jump hook to tie it & send it into a 2nd OT at 42-all.
After nearly 2 minutes with no scoring in OT #2, Korra Estel hit a pair of FTs to put Jonesville up, but Maggie Soper scored off a drive to tie it back up & the defenses held to send it into a 3rd OT.
Maggie Soper scored 1st in OT #3 to give H-H a 46-44 lead, but Estel & Bryn Rusk hit FGs to give the edge back to Jonesville & they hit enough of their FTs (5-for-8) down the stretch to pull out a 53-48 triple OT victory.
The interior matchup between Alexis Trine (pictured) of Jonesville & Northern Michigan University volleyball recruit Morgan Kuhl (pictured in the halftime tweet) of H-H was an entertaining contrast in styles. Trine played physical inside to negate her height disadvantage, while also showing a soft touch on her 10-15 foot shot (& even hit a 3); she finished with a 14-&-10 double-double & added 5 steals. Kuhl is a long, athletic, finesse player that showed good footwork to score around the basket on the drive off the face up from mid-range or off the cut as she moved & read well in H-H's motion offense; she had team-highs of 13 points & 7 rebounds.
