What happened in Mississippi was not a miracle. It was a lot of work on a lot of pieces over a lot of time. Lessons for all here from @kymyona_burk. https://t.co/tO82ny8zGJ
What a fun new take on my song, @ChapelHartBand! Carl's birthday is today so I think I'll hang on to him, and I'm not notifying Jolene that today is
his birthday 😉 #AGT
[Best of Edutopia 2019] #BestofEdutopia2019 One of our most-watched videos of the year showed how drawing is a powerful learning tool, exercising visual, kinesthetic, and linguistic areas of the brain all at the same time.
Love seeing Mississippi’s educators & students get well-deserved national attention for their impressive gains in reading over the last 5 years! Nothing is more important than educating our young people. #msedu
@skrashen Erroneous. Increased phonics instruction took place for ALL MS Ss. As a MS 3rd grade teacher, I have first hand knowledge. Our state trained Ts on the science of reading, which includes all 5 components. Ts increased phonics in regular ed classes bc that’s what was lacking.
"Mississippi has been doing something notable: making sure all of its teachers understand the science of reading," writes @ehanford https://t.co/s5Qr2bMQFB
Check out this excellent new piece about the disconnect between popular commercial programs & the scientific evidence base on reading. It features the voice of @markseidenberg, our own @drheidibc, and other allies, such as @tiffany_peltier. Exciting times!https://t.co/HxWmjjp8mc
Thread: There was a session today at #NCTE19, the annual conference of @ncte, called "Misreading the Science of Reading." I want to share some thoughts, and some reading material, to add to the conversation. #elachat#ilachat 1/x
Today, @nctqkate, @TNedu's Penny Schwinn, @DrMariaMurray1 of @reading_league, and @maci_fish of @LamarCoSchools will be discussing how to end the reading wars, and how to do it now at @ExcelinEd's #EIE19.
Check it out if you're there! https://t.co/1l2mMnq48H
Great to hear @maci_fish’s firsthand account of Mississippi’s gains in reading. Hard to overstate the importance of the science of reading. Let’s keep this conversation going! https://t.co/ZeIT6n367q #EIE19@SchwinnTeach @DrMariaMurray1 @reading_league@nctqkate@NCTQ
