@entangledaura@vihany3 @starcrossedoffx It's also not great that we allowed ourselves to get sucked into making these people sole representatives of these movements. The reality is that so many more people had a say, and history doesn't exist at the behest of "great men"
@vihany3@entangledaura @starcrossedoffx to a halacoust or the indegenious native american genocide, where the purpose of the oppressor is out right extermination. I think these are the scenarios where they would say the crimes of the oppressor are too great to ignore, and correctly place blame on Israel
@vihany3@entangledaura @starcrossedoffx I disagree, because of the material conditions that exist in Palestine are different. Israel pushed to create this conflict, to create the environment to force a Hamas to exist, and to create this level of desperation. It's closer to the situation with the indigenous Americans
@vihany3@entangledaura @starcrossedoffx So violence doesn't mean subjugation, so you don't have to pretend that's what I'm saying. Do i think Palestinians can get "expel" their oppressors through violent or non violent means without outside assistance...also no.
@vihany3@entangledaura @starcrossedoffx Also sorry that was Mandela quoting ghandi...here's a better one ""Choose peace rather than confrontation, except in cases where we cannot move forward. Then, if the only alternative is violence, we will use violence.""
@vihany3@entangledaura @starcrossedoffx You have a very different understanding of words than I do, the countries that colonized every example you listed still exist unsub jugated. I used Africa exactly because of the diversity of tactics that did not end in the subjugation of their colonizers.
@vihany3@entangledaura @starcrossedoffx Sometimes renitence wins, sometimes it doesn't. That doesn't always end in teh subjugation of your oppressors. Africa didn't subjugate their oppressors but managed to decolonize using violence...not sure what to say
@vihany3@entangledaura @starcrossedoffx Also i pointed out already, the goal of the Hamas was to trade hostages for compromise, they underestimated the inhumanity of Israeli's, secondary was to get their plight out which they did successfully. I'm not sure what else you want. There isn't always a winning tactic
@vihany3@entangledaura @starcrossedoffx Again, that has nothing to do with him being non violent, it had to do with the fact that they continued to slaughter our leaders. You are making my point about violence being the source of change
@vihany3@entangledaura @starcrossedoffx Do you know how many ppl they killed? It wasn't just MLK, wtf. I swear yall think we're like a hive mind or something.
@vihany3@entangledaura @starcrossedoffx Where did i describe mlk as the figurehead for the change we saw ending jim croix. What are u talking about. MLK didn't do shit alone, and the civil rights movement wasn't nonviolentAlso, i walk with his family, my family stood with him hand in hand. Who are u to tell me of legacy
@vihany3@entangledaura @starcrossedoffx No actually, MLK talked openly (again where do we go from here) about the civil rights bill be a nothingburger. The change happened AFTER they shot him, we rioted for months, and they added to the bill. Its why half the bill is an anti rioting act. Mlk didn't do shit alone
