The body of PC Chemonges Suleiman, the 28-year-old police officer who was killed by a mob in Ibanda District on Sunday, has arrived at his ancestral home in Kaserem, Kapchorwa District ahead of burial.

Chemonges was attacked while on duty at a funeral, where mourners accused him of involvement in the death of an inmate.

. @RwijaeSamson "The Police has strongly condemned the senseless act of violence, where an irate mob attacked police officers No. 75290 PC Chemonges Suleiman, a 28-year-old police officer attached to Bisheshe police station in Ibanda District.

PC Chemonges Suleiman was tragically killed by a mob while guarding the funeral of Kahangire Lazarus, an inmate who died at Nyabuhikye Government Ibanda District.

Police responded to the scene, recovering an SMG rifle and 16 rounds of ammunition. PC Suleiman's body was taken to the Ruhoko Health Centre mortuary. Investigations are ongoing.

We want to assure the public that all suspects involved in the criminal act shall be arrested and brought to book.
