I can't think of a more needed book for this cultural moment than this forthcoming work from @jenniferwilkin.
"He himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery."
Hebrews 2:14-15
Her chaism from chapter 2 (from the Amazon sample) is immediately helpful and the discussion on the moral dimensions of medical aesthetics is wildly pastorally important in the age of Looksmaxxing.
the will of Christ the law of my life; and the glory of Christ the end of my life. Christ was the absorbing element of his life. If he travelled, it was on Christ’s errand; if he suffered, it was in Christ’s service.”
Accepting and embracing accountability and responsibility, not avoiding it.
Valuing friends and allies, not disparaging them.
If my American friends want to recover “American greatness,” I think they would do well to emulate Eisenhower on June 5 and 6, 1944.

Some church will always have better coffee, better music, better facilities, better speaking, better marketing.
Showcase Christ and his gospel. Nobody can improve on that.

Our friends @Ligonier did their annual State of Theology for Canadians—and there’s a lot to be deeply worried about. Read their findings here:

Everywhere they were needed, Canada's Gunners have served.
Today is Artillery Day, observed by Canadian Gunners since 1952 and rooted in the establishment of the Royal Artillery on 26 May 1716.
For generations, the men and women of The Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery have served Canada with distinction: defending our country, supporting our allies, answering the call in war, and contributing to peace and security at home and abroad.
The Regiment’s motto, UBIQUE — Everywhere — is not merely a battle honour. It is a testament to a record of service wherever Canada has asked its soldiers to stand.
On this Artillery Day, we honour all who have worn the RCA Cap Badge, remember those who gave their lives in service, and celebrate the enduring contribution of Canada’s Gunners.
Happy Artillery Day.
UBIQUE. QUO FAS ET GLORIA DUCUNT.
Everywhere. Whither Right and Glory Lead.
@KnowingFaithPod@jenniferwilkin@jt_english@kyleworley You guys are normally on target. Not so here except for Kyle. 1 John 2:23 says it all. What would Paul say? Rom 9:3 & 10:1
Clarifying ques could have been “does Israel according to the flesh …..? “ Israel the nation needs to repent and obey the Gospel
Love your podcast.
For nearly ten years, I have weekly used the @simeontrust worksheet and principles in my sermon preparation.
One workshop a decade ago was worth more to my ministry than all my seminary preaching classes combined.
Grateful.
After 12 years of separation/divorce, @rdwolgemuth’s sister and her husband were reunited in marriage last week. Their 4 kids, 12 grands, and 100s of guests celebrated this miracle. Most moving wedding I’ve attended. Such grace. He is a redeeming God, making all things new. 🙌💞
The church doesn’t need leaders who are politicians that compromise, strategize, and double-speak.
The church needs leaders who are prophets that say, “Thus says the Lord” whether in season or out of season.

@pastrpaulcarter 2. work, they must never become de facto denominational authorities. Perhaps the time has come to thoughtfully recover a healthier balance that prioritizes the independence and accountability of the local body
@pastrpaulcarter 1. Baptists have long cherished the autonomy of the local church as both biblical and essential. Each congregation is to be self-governing under Christ, free from external control. While associations and conventions can provide valuable voluntary cooperation for Great Commission
