Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach.
The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

Bob Mueller was one of the finest directors in the history of the FBI, transforming the bureau after 9/11 and saving countless lives. But it was his relentless commitment to the rule of law and his unwavering belief in our bedrock values that made him one of the most respected public servants of our time. Michelle and I send our condolences to Bob’s family, and everyone who knew and admired him.
This afternoon, retired Army general Stanley McChrystal, former commander of Joint Special Operations Command, spoke at the retirement ceremony hosted by @HRC for six transgender service members who were forced out under Trump’s ban.
“I shouldn’t have to be thanked for being here. First off, we shouldn’t be here. This shouldn’t be happening.”

Someone alert DOGE that the Houthis have now shot down six MQ-9 Reaper drones, costing $30 million a piece, despite 35 straight days of US bombing in Yemen. Untold savings (waste, fraud, abuse?) are surely to be found with a thorough DOGE investigation of this matter. Right?
The sun rose where I am. I spent the night not sleeping in my hotel room. It was dark and slow and lonely.
I had thought if it happened it wouldn’t be as hard as last time. Because it would be less of a shock. But it was harder, actually, and for the same reason. No one went into this naively. This was chosen.
But now my people are checking in with me, and vice versa. The sun is up. I already feel less alone.
This is me checking in with you: you’re not alone and you’re NOT wrong. This is going to feel bad. It’s going to BE bad. But the sun rose. You deserve its warmth, every day, and we are already closer to a future in which this will be the fucked up past.
Take care of one another and yourself. See you tonight if that’s helpful to you.
.@AdamKinzinger is voting for Kamala Harris because she is the best person to lead our country forward. Donald Trump will only divide us further.
To the Republicans and Independents who refuse to vote for Trump: there is room for you in our campaign.
Of the five boroughs in NYC, Staten Island is Trump's stronghold. Yet today the borough's newspaper, the Staten Island Advance, "enthusiastically" endorsed Harris, calling her "the only choice in 2024," and delivering some tough love to readers 🧵
School’s back in session, and @johnlegend and @JBKSchlossberg are going head-to-head with @PennDems —with @chrissyteigen as referee.
Things got a little intense, but hey, we all agree on one thing: it’s time to call @KamalaHarris Madam President!
In a democracy, #WeThePeople have the power to determine our future and our vote is our voice.
@KamalaHarris is asking everyone, regardless of party, to join our movement.
Together, we will turn the page on Donald Trump and build a better future for all Americans.
Our volunteers are the reason we’re going to win this election.
President @BillClinton came to McKeesport to thank them for their hard work — but not before stopping by a local café in Greensburg for a sweet treat!
