The unsung heroes of 9/11 are definitely the search & rescue dogs. They were brought in to help locate survivors & were accustomed to finding living people during rescue missions, but at Ground Zero, they mostly discovered deceased victims.

This caused them stress, confusion, and even depression, as they sensed their efforts were not producing the outcomes they were trained for. So rescue workers began staging fake rescues. They would hide in the debris so the dogs could “find” them, giving the animals a sense of accomplishment and boosting their morale.

They also served as "comfort dogs" for thousands of exhausted first responders. AMAZING!🐶❤️🙏

St Leonards Church is famously home to the Flodden Window, also known as the Middleton Archers Window.

This early 16th-century stained glass window is widely recognized as the oldest glazed war memorial in the UK (and potentially the world)

While originally commissioned in 1505 by Sir Richard Assheton as a pre-battle offering to God, it was retained after the Battle of Flodden in 1513 to commemorate the Middleton Archers who fought there.

Male 9 years. Chase is a 9yr old neutered collie. He came into our care as his owners felt they no longer had the time to give him. He has lived in a rural area and would possibly benefit from the same again. He is a friendly boy but would be better suited to a quiet home without young children. Chase is housetrained, is ok being left alone for a few hours, loves to play ball, has lived with a cats and travels well.
He prefers his own space away from other dogs so would need to be an only dog. He does sometimes lunge at traffic if being walked by a busy road PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you. 8/11/2026: Melody weighed 25.0 lbs. Mom and litter of puppies have various degrees of hair loss on tails, ears and paws. Probable ringworm was noted and a private vet was recommended for further evaluation/treatment. Melody has hair loss on her elbows, tail and feet. Assessment includes dermatitis/contagious dermatitis. She was vaccinated with Rabies, DA2PP-V and Bordetella, dewormed, and given flea prevention. Heartworm test: Low Positive.

8/11/2026: The puppies have various degrees of hair loss involving the feet, tails and ears. Probable ringworm was noted and a private vet was recommended for further evaluation/treatment. Assessment includes dermatitis/contagious dermatitis. The puppies received DA2PP-V, Bordetella and dewormer.

🤍 Lily is a 10 yr old small Cocker Spaniel. Super sweet, sensitive, busy and has most definitely had many puppies.
