PhD student - University of Glasgow. Researching shifts towards more sustainable diets, focusing on nutritional guidelines and social norms.

Eating locally is not an effective way to reduce the carbon footprint of your diet.
This is despite a recent paper in @NatureFoodJnl claiming that 'food miles' make up 20% of food emissions.
In my latest Substack post I explain why this is wrong: https://t.co/5iFGl8CMFX
@DrCPettingerRD Hi Claire, I've recently started a PhD at Glasgow which is looking into this - where people access nutritional information and how they use/trust it, and perceptions of a healthy/sustainable diet. I'll be focusing on the Eatwell Guide too. Lmk if you're interested in results :)
A whole school approach to #FooodEducation ‘School meals should become a core part of learning… pupils encouraged to try new, healthier foods & learn food skills, including cooking, with catering funded accordingly so more fresh food is available.’ 👏🏻 https://t.co/M9sZYgSsRN

Always inspiring to get away from my desk, and into a room of young people full of passion about transforming our food system. Our #LeadersforChange were brimming with ideas and enthusiasm as ever! Looking forward to what's to come next🙂
So pleased to have finally hosted an in-person event with our inspiring Leaders for Change last month. Excited to see what the future holds for our passionate young people.

This pandemic is far from over for millions of households and we need your help to #ENDCHILDFOODPOVERTY. No child in the UK should be going to bed hungry.

Kicking off our HAF observations by visiting @HeeleyCityFarm and seeing their blacksmithing and forging in action! Really excited about exploring activities, and chatting to parents, children and providers about their involvement.
My informal account of a virtual school trip, which aimed to engage young people from around Yorkshire in conversations around sustainable, healthy food. Very excited to work with them going forward, to understand what changes are needed in our Food System.
Read Maddie Sinclair’s blog about our exciting ”Leaders for Change” programme, where we are engaging children as powerful drivers for change. You will be hearing lots more from this group! https://t.co/HaRyjyk5I0
IT'S JUST NOT CRICKET
#TheHundred is supposed to be getting us into sport, yet the shirt sponsors make it look like a massive junk food advert.
We’re calling on @ECB_cricket to find a healthier sponsor. Sign our petition and tell them to #PacketIn. https://t.co/X2fsfTflmu
“We can’t have nice food without spending a pretty penny.” Christina’s powerful poem gets to the heart of why @food_strategy recommendations are so urgent, to break the junk food cycle and put child health centre stage #nationalfoodstrategy@henrydimbleby

So many important findings about the state of our food system today. What struck me is that 96%(!) of child-focused yoghurts are medium-high in sugar. This isn't only from fruit content, but added sugar despite misleading labeling. And that's just for something we deem healthy...

It’s broken isn’t it ? We’ve broken what we do with food . Pears grow in the U.K. They could grow in our gardens . We could walk out and pick them , wipe them and eat them . No chemicals , no processing , no plastic , no planes , no sell by dates . Just fresh fruit . God help us
