@YoungBuckFarms@SolickSeeds We got not quite an inch and a half , and few showers since that didn't register in the gauge. Hoping field work continues next week.
@garrett_wolf3 Trash wheels ahead of the planting disks will take care of it. If you were planning on in row cultivation, that's where it becomes a problem.
@garrett_wolf3 Used to have two local guys. One had a small shop, the other ran a service truck. Both ended up having to go back to working in industry. One guy said it was chasing billing and none payments that he couldn't deal with.
It was amazing to match these results to personal history of on farm experience.
And, we are probably only beginning to figure out how to use these techniques to grow with less inputs and potentially more nutrition.
Today, I spent a mind bending afternoon with Farming Forward and Regenerative Alberta Living Lab for an in depth dive into the soil on this farm. From soil samples to multi layered digital maps, plotting soil carbon levels, total soil nitrogen amounts and colour coded soil charts
@hanslope Just curious, as terms for things vary by location, when you refer to contract acres, are you contracting with the landowner on a per service basis and they own the crop? Or is it really a rental or land lease arrangement?
@TSmith1867 About of a third of my small farms income come from direct to consumer marketing. About a month ago I added a $20 surcharge to deliveries under $300. Or people could organize and combine trips. Different type of farming.
@JimBenn71220505 Putting in a Cummins is probably to get around import emissions regs. China as tiers of manufacturing quality. We tend to see the crappy stuff because importers thrive on low cost high volume.
