She feeds poor children in her neighborhood for free, and buys them school supplies, books, uniforms, shoes – anything they need. 

And yes...she also tutors the children in her free time.

Has any channel highlighted this woman?

No...

Because there's no glamour in this woman's story.

Our neighbour lost her father last month. Sudden heart attack. No warning.

In the weeks after, the family spent more time figuring out the financials than anything else

- Which banks had accounts? Nobody fully knew.
- Which FDs? Some passbooks old, some online, some in a drawer nobody opened in 10 years.
- Which mutual funds? Were nominees added? Or added 20 years ago and forgotten?
- Property in two cities. Was there a will? Registered or handwritten? Where was the original?

When I took over the Health Department in 2006, our MMR was 480. At that time, this journey looked almost impossible. But thousands of doctors, nurses, ASHA workers, health officials and frontline workers across Assam kept working silently, tirelessly and with compassion year after year.

This achievement belongs to them.

Behind this number are countless mothers who returned safely home to their families. Behind this success are years of sacrifice, sleepless nights and an unwavering commitment to save lives.

Assam has achieved something truly historic today. What once seemed impossible has become reality through collective effort and the blessings of the people of Assam.
