Hi friends, i’m Maddy 👋
I spent years dealing with chronic headaches, bloating, and generally just feeling off. For so long I believed it was normal.
Until I learned it wasn’t. After months of learning about hormones, gut health and taking myself back to the basics, I began to heal.
My journey is far from over, but through this process I realized how many others might be silently dealing with the same issues.
I’m still healing, and still learning, and during this time I will be studying to become a certified integrative health coach so that those struggling never have to feel alone.
I’ll be sharing my journey and any helpful tips I learn along the way.

humans were never meant to be this busy and move this fast and it's driving us all insane
we were meant to live slower lives. to rest a lot. to grow our own food. to occasionally go out for a big hunt. to rise and sleep with the sun.
Cooking for yourself is one of those things that seems small but actually makes a real difference. Studies have found that people who cooked at home more than 5 times a week were 28% less likely to be overweight and had noticeably better diet quality than those who rarely cooked.
When you’re the one making the food, you know exactly what’s in it. No unnecessary additives. You have control over every single ingredient and the quality. You expose yourself to loads of added calories and synthetic additives when you eat ultra processed food.
I know cooking every night can feel like a chore when life gets busy, but your body and your mind will greatly reap the benefits of skipping the fast food and making yourself whole foods each day.
YALL I hate to break it to you but as everything in life EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT
I had a very normal cycle, and got pregnant at 10% body fat
There isn’t a one size fits all, sorry. Skinny does not equal unhealthy and infertile at all
10 years ago the birth control pill was given out to millions of females at the age of 15.
Now IVF is a 50 billion dollar industry.
Must be a coincidence?
Lifelong learning is protective for your brain. It supports memory retention and strengthens the hippocampus, the part of your brain responsible for forming new memories.
It also builds something called cognitive reserve, essentially your brain’s ability to find alternate ways to function even when it’s under stress or starting to decline with age. Think of it like a buffer, the more you’ve challenged your brain over the years, the more backup pathways it has to draw from later.
Learning doesn’t have to stop when you leave school. Find a new interest or hobby and stay curious!
5 habits that changed my health for the better:
• Red light
• electrolytes (lemon water + sea salt every morning)
• daily sunlight
• breakfast > fasting
• movement + strength training > cardio
every time you say no to something hard or uncomfortable, you are essentially training your brain to register those tasks as dangerous. stop saying no and start saying yes. face every challenge head on and train your brain to be resilient
UV light is only 4% of sunlight.
every wavelength of sunlight is incredibly beneficial in different ways
blue light boosts mood. green light reduces pain. red light heals the skin. infrared heals your brain.
the sun is the most healing supplement in the world
sugar consumption falling while obesity skyrocketing
is it really the sugar?
stop blaming the sugar for what seed oils, stress, light at night and endocrine disruptors did
Creativity sets you free. Literally. Even brief moments of creativity disrupt the negative loop your brain gets stuck in. Read. Draw. Dance. Sing. Any creative outlet to set your mind free
you can’t control everything that happens to you, but you can always control how you react & what those experiences mean for your life. Perspective is everything.
What people think salt does:
- makes food taste better
- ruins health
What salt really does:
- improves hydration
- boosts physical performance
- improves mood
- makes you happy
- deepens sleep
- increases metabolism
- lowers stress and adrenaline
- improves heart health
Salt is a superfood
so many people are working jobs they hate out of necessity or because they’re too comfortable where they’re at. chronic work stress can lead to disrupted sleep, depression, anxiety, and it’s a fast track to building bad habits. a glass of wine or beer everyday after work. straight to the couch for a nap after. ranting about your coworkers or your workload.
Just remember you should be seeking a career that not only takes care of you financially but nourishes you mentally. sustainable work that aligns with you. Even if it isn’t your dream job, it should be something that fills your life with purpose and doesn’t consume you in the worst ways
I used to get caught in this vicious mind body loop, and i’ve noticed it in a lot of my friends and family too. For me it looked like this: overworked, barely sleeping, eating like garbage because i didn’t have the time or energy to do anything else. and then my mental health took the hit. dissociation. anxiety. which made it even harder to do the things that would’ve actually helped. cooking a real meal felt impossible. the gym felt impossible. even a walk outside felt like too much. so i was stuck.
bad habits lead to a worse mental state, which leads to even less capacity to change those habits, and the cycle just repeats. A vicious loop.
The bright side is, it goes both ways. when you actually nourish your body, whole foods, hydration, sleep, movement, your brain gets what it needs to function.
Something most people never think about is that your mouth has its own microbiome, home to hundreds of species of bacteria, and its health is closely tied to what’s happening in the rest of your body.
Biofilm is the thin layer of bacteria that naturally builds up on your teeth, tongue, and gums. When in balance, it actually protects you, helping regulate pH and blocking harmful bacteria. Out of balance, it becomes the root of cavities, gum disease, and bad breath.
And it doesn’t stop at your mouth. Your mouth is the entry point to your gut, every time you swallow, oral bacteria travels down with it. When your oral microbiome is out of balance, that same imbalance gets introduced straight into your digestive system, which can throw off your gut microbiome too. It can also affect your heart. Gum disease and inflammation in the mouth have been tied to inflammation in blood vessels elsewhere in the body, so an unhealthy mouth can cause cardiovascular issues too.
A few habits that support a healthier oral microbiome:
• Tongue scraping in the morning (removes far more bacteria than brushing your tongue alone)
• Oil pulling with coconut oil (research shows it meaningfully reduces bacterial count and biofilm)
• Hydroxyapatite toothpaste (can help remineralize enamel and reduce bacterial colonization)
• Daily flossing reaches what your toothbrush physically can’t
I always thought being super healthy would be too expensive but the things that made the largest impact to my health have cost me very little.
• movement
• sunlight
