@the_eco_thought from not really a twitter user, just seems like an easy way to ask this question - Are hyperobjects always problematic? Are there any good ones?
@JamesARathbone Sincerely hope we see a change of scene here come May - a distinct lack of listening and hearing to the needs and views of local residents round these parts!
@darrenmoore Goodness - why do so many pro LTNers assume this kind of binary? It could be that they think, like many people do, that an LTN creates more inequality, increased traffic in other roads being a good example. Dnt understand why so many can't see the whole picture, beyond bikes etc
@synthapy@ivroche @HGWestVillage @OctaviaLewisham @PaulLomax@Izabela80 @PaulKin96304072 @PaulHowarthUK @carlyloushep @JamesARathbone@TfL@LewishamCouncil@damienegan Its getting rolled out to meet emissions targets & the instrumental approach has sadly replaced doing the right thing. Nothing to do with covid, other than covid leaves no stone unturned & exposes inequality like never before. Probably bc inequality has reached a critical mass!
@ivroche @HGWestVillage @OctaviaLewisham @PaulLomax@Izabela80 @PaulKin96304072 @PaulHowarthUK@synthapy @carlyloushep @JamesARathbone@TfL@LewishamCouncil@damienegan This is a bizarre thread - there is a false binary all over this LTN discussion, it simply isn't a case of either/or as is being suggested by the pro team. Problem is another word for opportunity, and solution is not singular, esp if it harms the next poor people down the road
@MichalZadrag@psimonk I mean those who are so in thrall to one kind of solution and methodology that they can't see that they aren't the only ones with answers. It breeds division and defences. Problems are opportunities, that's all they are. There's never one answer.
@psimonk I don't see any opportunity for communities to engage with this stuff - We are not allowed to disagree because 'evidence' and 'data', and we are not allowed to engage in discussion because 'evidence' and 'data'. HOW do we discuss? The systems & methods are literally dehumanising.
@one_lewisham@London_Cycling@psimonk@psimonk certainly looks like a textbook case of false binaries being purported by myopic campaigners - keep going @one_lewisham, the current climate is very favourable for exposing these tendencies!
@CfPS_Ed Hit the nail on the head, while those with pretensions of power rub their hands together and start listing their experience and problem solving skills to update their cv. Luckily some things are much more transparent than this shit-show of a scheme!
@JamesARathbone I guess you dont feel sorry for anyone then. There seems to be quite a lot of imagining going on here. I'm sure some real humility and humanity would go a long way towards resolving some of the divisions this scheme has created.
@JamesARathbone Doesn't it support your predictions to show the peaks over the last few weeks and then see it (hopefully) drop off?? And what about any kind of sorry? Do you feel at all sorry for those ppl for whom this has come as a massive shock of hot pollution?
@JamesARathbone Yes I understand that the data predicts that. But 1.we still dont have any answers about when the monitoring started - can you assure residents that they haven't already endured a month for nothing? 2. Dont you feel just a little bit sorry for those people - weren't expecting it?
@JamesARathbone Have you really read the rest of the comments against? 100s of them. You're picking up here on some very legitimate existing problems of the neighbourhood, and it is a complete misrepresentation to draw significant attention to them in this context.
@JamesARathbone@googlemaps So now you are redirecting (much like google) scrutiny of your appalling scheme onto multinationals? Bound to happen sooner or later. PLEASE answer questions on official start dates and success criteria so that we can reroute the scrutiny to the correct places.
