Deanté Hitchcock’s ‘Junkie in the Sun’ is a sobering self-examination from an artist who has all the talent, plus the weight of the world on his shoulders. Oh and it sounds dope too!!!!
Ain’t nothing like creating something, loving it before you give it to the world, then releasing it and everyone loving it just as much as you do. Thank yall for the overwhelming amount of love yall been showing me and the gang for this album. We already working on the next 1.
Being dead serious, no hyperbole, @DeanteVH might have just dropped the rap album of the year so far. I got to listen a few more times, but this is incredible.
This new Deante’ Hitchcock album is fantastic. You might know him for his work with JID or Revenge of the Dreamers 3, but he’s somebody who always had a ton of talent and never really got the recognition he deserved.
Well, hopefully that changes with this project because ‘Junkie in the Sun’ is one of the best albums of the year. Against the vibrant production are more serious stories of su1cidal thoughts, self doubt, fatherhood, & more. The album is extremely cohesive despite touching on a wide array of topics, and it makes sense that most of the production was handled by Brandon Phillips-Taylor (I love when a rapper & a producer lock in!).
It’s a very warm album and a very human album. Deante’ captures the human experience very well where one day you’re riding high and the next you’re at the lowest of the low. The guest features are great, there are only a few and you can tell they were carefully chosen: Samara Cyn, 6lack, Childish Major, J.Wes, & Anna Field.
‘Junkie in the Sun’ just feels so intentional and the effort & love that went into it radiate on every track. It feels like a resurgence for Deante’ and I hope he starts to get those flowers he so very much deserves.

Walk... Before You Fly Tour: Chicago, Illinois
Chicago showed a lot of love. What a beautiful city. I truly enjoyed exploring parts of the city and being able to connect with people there.
This was one of our smaller shows, regardless we show up and show out no matter if it's 5, 50, 500 or 5,000. We're building brick by brick and the love is unmatched. I'll remember that forever.
Washington DC is next up for March 26th! Get tickets now!
