Ramadan Mubarak to all!! As #Muslims, we undertake 30 days of #fasting for the sole purpose of pleasing the Creator, while also striving to better ourselves. Fasting isn’t simply abstaining from food & water, but to avoid anything that takes away from our worship. #WhatMuslimsDo
Yesterday, our #MuslimYouth volunteered to provide #disasterrelief to the victims of the #FranklinTornado in #Texas. We had almost 30 brothers present helping clean up many homes affected. Doing anything we can to help make the lives of those affected feel better #WhatMuslimsDo
We are greatly saddened and shocked by the terrorist attacks in #Christchurch, New Zealand. The victims and their families are in our heartfelt prayers and thoughts during this difficult time.
In the wake of the government shutdown, the young men of @MuslimYouthUSA -with the help @HFUSA- saw need and sprung into action by keeping parks clean nationwide. Although parks remain open, employees tasked with servicing parks are currently on non-duty status (furloughed).
What started out as an one day cleanup, has transformed into a continuous act of civic engagement. Thank you to both organizations for keeping our parks accessible. https://t.co/uxTlsw8I74
“Whatever our background or religion, we can all appreciate the importance of keeping these beautiful lands pristine,” said Umar Ahmad, president of @MiamiIslam.
My latest for the @SunSentinel:
Very proud of our youth group, @MuslimYouthUSA. Under the leadership of @MuslimPresident, they have been picking up trash in national parks as trash accumulates during the government shutdown. Our youth are committed to helping their nation. https://t.co/Pu9tI6Kb04
While the government has been shut down some Americans are taking matters into their own hands. @Salawm told me he has organized clean ups at national parks because it is “especially important at a time like this.” https://t.co/lPWUsPqupQ
