The idea of kids "falling behind" academically is based on two things:
1) an entirely arbitrary idea of how "far ahead" they should be, and
2) a culture that says we are only worthy and valuable to the extent we can keep up with or outperform others.
When an #Indigenous person doesn't speak or answer your probing questions, it's not because we're shy. After watching the documentary about Gurrumul today, I got riri when ignorant interviewers labelled him shy. This happens all the time & prompted me to write this.

Heutagogy is about developing the next generation of learners -- focused, first and foremost, on learner agency, and on developing key capabilities: collaboration (communities of inquiry/practice), metacognition, self-efficacy, self-concept, and creativity.
