My favourite paper I wrote during my PhD is out! We looked at quantitative interactions between chronic pain x mental health x exercise. ๐โโ๏ธ๐ง
Amazing to collaborate with @Anitabamorim & @EliteaKademy + supervisors @ntvandam@MichaelaPascoe & prof Bowden

@PaulaGhete @Anitabamorim@EliteaKademy@ntvandam@MichaelaPascoe Thank you! We donโt address that in our study, which is more about motivation for exercise, but there is a lot of previous research out there that shows the efficacy of exercise for treatment of pain symptoms - both different types of exercise and different pain conditions too!
New blog post up for the food and mood centre by yours truly! Such a great opportunity to communicate my PhD findings in a more palatable way! ๐โโ๏ธ
Our latest blog post explores some of the reasons why we may struggle to exercise when we're not feeling our best, and discusses some of the ways we can overcome common barriers to exercise. Read the blog here: https://t.co/oBYQ8xOIer
Exciting findings from @DrAdrienneOneil and team on the antidepressant effects of telehealth lifestyle interventions for adults with high psychological distress ๐ #smhr2023
Very excited to be at #smhr2023 in Perth this week to present some of my PhD work from @Psychunimelb on Friday, and honored to have joined a panel yesterday for MAGNET ASM to talk about adverse events in behavioral interventions with @foodmoodcentre
I hit submit! (Almost two months ago now, but better late than never to post the picture on Twitter)
A big thank you to my PhD supervisors, @ntvandam@MichaelaPascoe & Stephen Bowden @Psychunimelb for helping me with my ultimate passion project on mental health & exercise! ๐ฅณ
@ArgonautZhou Super interesting as intrusions are really common IRL in illnesses where fatigue is high and โbrain fogโ is a symptom - Long Covid being a perfect example. Would be interesting to see how models might change in recovery protocols ๐
This paper details the scale I created to quantify mental health-related barriers and benefits to exercise. My hope is that discussion of these factors will help more people to exercise more often, even in the face of any mental health difficulties which may impede them ๐๐ง ๐

Iโm genuinely shaken by this. This news is absolutely awful to not only the entire current community of us with chronic illness, but my heart goes out to those who will become chronically ill with post viral syndrome due to this decision. Is health safety too much to expect now?
Australians will no longer have to stay home after testing positive to COVID-19 after national cabinet agreed to make isolation a personal decision, a major shift two years into the pandemic. | @Dana_Adele

Swedish researchers just published the first #POTS symptom score, based on the 12 most common symptoms reported by 1000s of patients in the Big POTS Study, a collaboration between Dysautonomia International, Vanderbilt & Univ of Calgary. This is progress!
