@Nicoletteswk350 i agree so much with your statement! addiction especially in west virginia is something that has become such a huge issue. we as upcoming social workers have been learning how to successfully help these communities.
A theme that I find important from this class is discrimination and stereotypes while working with different communities. We learn to be inclusive of all people. As a social worker we are not judging anyone based off of their race, class, gender, etc. #SOWK35021
@FialaKendra i think that mediation is really great. It can allow for participants to speak their own opinions which can cause others to branch off of it and create topics of conversations
@abbi_sowk350 Conflict is something that can bring on a lot of different communication styles as well as it will help us as social workers to avoid any unnecessary conflict
I learned how to use rephotographs this week. I think that this will be useful in my future because I’ll be able to better understand the history of older areas that are around me. #SOWK35021
@leahchen21 It’s infuriating that people take so much advantage of having the price page of food in their homes and wasting it. Some families are not even able to have anything in their homes. It is hard to even imagine this as well
@FialaKendra The NASW should not be supporting or standing for this. It is such an unfair treatment. It is really going to affect these young children mentally and emotionally for the rest of their lives.
#SOWK350 https://t.co/hFdQB77T7E Standing up for women’s equality through forms of athletics and everyday endeavors has become increasingly relevant. Sedona has made such valid points with the unfairness that came from women’s march madness. She also has created so much change.
My vision of an ideal geographic community is being able to have the basic necessities as close as they can be. I would also love to have things to do in this community like lakes, beaches, even a big city. Lastly having family close or in the same area. #SOWK35021
@lng0007 i also grew up in new jersey and my town was exactly like this. We’re such a small town but are able to be friendly with neighborhood kids, i was so lucky to grow up with my friends so close
@GingerSwain9 That’s so amazing, me and my best friend met when we were 11 and have been friends ever since. It stinks i am not able to see her as much being that i’m here and she stayed home for college
The neighborhood that i grew up in was such a fun place. I was able to walk to school most days and had so many friends. I lived 5 minutes down the road from my best friend. At times it was loud during the school day, but mostly quiet. We had very nice neighbors too #SOWK35021
@KileyMcCoy47 I think being able to live not so close to people is somewhat good, you won’t be bothered by them but can still make friends. It seems like such a quaint town and relaxing at times
@AndreaMcComas22 Wow, growing up right beside your grandparents is amazing. Mine lived 15 minutes right in another city and always did so much for me and it is such a pleasure to have them so close to me
https://t.co/0aPs30O3xv I have created a list and pinned it about racism awareness. Being that there has been so many recent outbursts throughout the country of racist acts, I added advocates and people who have spoken out against racism
@Evdokia2323 yes, i totally agree with this. the rights of the lgbtq+ community has been tampered and shoved around. the people in these communities have been so hurt and it is time to put an end to the pain.
@KileyMcCoy47 This problem is very prevalent throughout the country especially here in WV. This is something that is going to need to be dealt with in the next upcoming years. It is hard to deal with especially being so up close and personal with it.
