🚨Ronaldo Nazario on Egypt Elimination and the VAR controversy in the game.
🗣️“Football has become a joke with a lot of easy figures to point it out especially at this 2026 World Cup, Egypt being Eliminated from the World Cup has to be the worse thing ever in the history of football, where clear decisions are denied and ignored.”
“It’s sad to see players like Mo Salah being emotionally crying out of pain and sadness, Imagine a whole nation being sacrificing with a lot of hard work and effort just to be ruin by a false decision with clear evidence along with it.”
“It’s so sicking to talk about, everyone will have his opinion on this but mine is that the game was rigged in their favor.”
Many people don’t know this, but the crossed-arms “X” signal is FIFA’s universal gesture for reporting racist abuse.
When a player, coach, or team official makes that signal, they’re informing the referee that racist abuse has occurred. It is meant to trigger FIFA’s three-step anti-racism protocol: first stop the match, then suspend it if the abuse continues, and ultimately abandon the match if it doesn’t stop.
Today, Egypt manager Hossam Hassan made the “X” gesture from the touchline. Instead of initiating the protocol, the referee booked Hassan with a yellow card and allowed play to continue.
🚨 Thierry Henry on Argentina knocking Egypt out of the FIFA World Cup:
🗣️ “This one feels like outright daylight theft on the pitch.
I’m not questioning Argentina’s talent they’re stacked with elite players but they didn’t merit the victory tonight.
Egypt fought tooth and nail to establish that two-goal cushion. They showed real grit in defense, flair going forward, and fully deserved every bit of their advantage.
The game shifted because of the officiating, in my view. That early penalty for Argentina already looked questionable, and from then on, it seemed like every big call went against Egypt.
Those moments completely altered the flow and handed Argentina the lifeline they needed.
Egypt will be devastated leaving this competition. They came so close to pulling off what would have been one of their finest triumphs.
Football can be won through moments of genius or through disputed calls and right now, the refereeing decisions will be talked about just as much as the action on the field.”
