During these unstable times the feeling of confusion and discouragement is inevitable. Reflecting on my achievements and enriching relationships has been a key facilitator in staying positive in the teaching journey I have chosen #acuedu_p
Sometime things happen for a reason which is not clear at the time. But trust in yourself and things will work out for the best. Something for all aspiring teachers to ponder #acuedu_p
A beautiful metaphor from one of my students about the Stolen Generation. My class have been working a lot around Empathetic Understanding and the injustices Indigenous Australians have faced/face. It has been especially enriching hearing views from Indigenous students #acuedu_p
It is extremely important for educators to work on their mental & physical health right now. Whether school is in person or virtual, we are dealing with stress that we have never encountered. Take time for yourself daily/weekly - read, walk, rest, spend time with loved ones.
Year 6 had so much fun composing their own potions. So many creative potions like the 'virus banishment potion' or the 'infinite-donut potion' but the most ambitious was the 'spatial anomaly potion'. I don't know about grinding up uranium in a mortar and pestle though.. #acuedu_p
Year 6 & I co-constructed a peace potion for those difficult days in class when we can’t settle down. Year 6 are so excited to write their own potion with a specific purpose & design the potion bottle (apparently the leech is to leech away the negativity?)✨🌿🍄🧙🏻♀️🔮🌳🧙🏻#acuedu_p
The Principal of my school was my Year 6 teacher in 2008. Today she visited my class. She sat at the back & asked if she could be "the annoying kid". I politely explained it would not be fair as I was always so well behaved for her, she agreed, such a full circle moment #acuedu_p
I LOVE the meditation initiative implemented by my school. So nice to escape for a bit, reflect & centre ourselves each week. After our session today, my class gave me some great recs for mindfullness apps such as ‘headspace’, ‘shine’ & ‘calm’ to listen to at home. #acuedu_p 🌿🌳
Year 6 had fun creating circuits in Science. Lots of great conversations as well as a lot of collective “UGHs!” when their lights wouldn’t light up. We are excited to (safely) pull apart some old electrical appliances as well as recycle these appliances correctly! ⚡️✨ #acuedu_p
Today in Year 6 we are painting with coffee and tea. We were amazed when our cranberry tea turned from red to blue! Year 6 are excited to make their own paint (and not use oil pastels for once!) ☕️🍵🎨 #acuedu_p
