Keir Starmer — ever a man of his word til the end.
In June 2023 he explicitly ruled out ever indulging in a resignation honours list (BBC Radio 4 Today).
Today he’s marked his resignation with 21 peerages, overwhelmingly public-sector/legal jobsworths. Barely a single wealth creator among them.
Classic line up of the New Establishment which has run the country under Labour and Tory governments for the past three decades and is now firmly in control. Largely (if not entirely) with the following characteristics:
*Career almost entirely in public sector, often taking salaries from several sinecures at once as they work up the greasy taxpayer-funded pole.
*Associated with various ‘right-on’ causes.
*Largely middle class, London chattering class, Oxbridge well represented (of course).
*Fashionable left but not too left. Good mainstream Labour links.
Thus is the antediluvian House of Lords perpetuated by the Left as well as the Right as a comfortable state-funded retirement home for the well-connected ‘good and great’ past their sell-by date — when it should simply be abolished.
How come in football and rugby, England, Scotland, and Wales compete separately?
But in the Olympics they join forces and compete as Great Britain?
And in the latter case, why do they compete as Great Britain instead of the UK? What if a great athlete is from Northern Ireland?
1) It’s *literally* your job to regulate this platform.
2) If you can’t, what does that mean? Tell us.
3) The Dept of Culture is not ‘your’ department, it’s ours. You’re its temporary custodian
5) But Facebook is ok? Really?
Rory Sutherland nails a quiet injustice that’s growing fast.
You can work insanely hard for 30 years, climb to the top… yet still live in mediocrity because your parents never owned a house in a good area.
Meanwhile, your junior colleagues inherit property from parents in Kensington or Surbiton and cruise through life with houses, wealth, and freedom.
The system taxes earned income heavily but barely touches inherited wealth, property gains, and pensions.
Economic models hide the problem, they use one “average” person, so inequality vanishes in the math (hello, Bill Gates effect).
This isn’t just unfair. It’s building a new class system based on inheritance, not effort.
What do you see as the biggest driver of unfairness between generations today?
Vile attempts by Zack Polanski, Humza Yousaf and many others to demonise me following the release of our rape gang inquiry report will not work.
For decades the mass rape of vulnerable white girls by gangs of Pakistani Muslims was covered up exactly because of efforts like this.
It will not work anymore.
There is a clear link between religion and these abhorrent crimes that have stained on our nation for so very long.
That religion is Islam, and other politicians must finally find the courage to say so.
Threats, abuse and intimidation will not work.
We have held our hearings, the report has been published and now we move onto the private prosecution phase.
Our aim is to put rapists and their enablers in prison.
That is now our objective.
@HumzaYousaf For decades that attitude, the way you deliberately phrased that post to blame me for such unacceptable violence, helped to enable the mass rape of vulnerable white young girls by gangs of mainly Pakistani Muslims.
It won't work anymore, Humza.
These fucking vipers are the worst people in the World
Saad is an immigrant to Canada from Lebanon. Canada took him in, gave him a free education then gave him a job at a public university
He made money in Canada. A LOT OF MONEY
Then he decided to get out of Canada, after making millions, because there were too many immigrants being let into Canada
Canada says "fine but we need to make sure you're not dodging you taxes. You have to pay taxes on your CAPITAL GAINS when you leave the country that took you in and gave you everything you have."
So he whines on Twitter. FUCK HIM
Rachel Reeves's deputy admits it - Labour are funding more benefits on the backs of students.
The interest rate on student loans is a scam. But Labour would rather rip off hardworking graduates to pay for more welfare than fix it.
That tells you everything about their priorities.
Conservatives have clear plan: stop the student loan scam by cutting real interest rates on Plan 2 loans, saving graduates thousands.

This is a man who desires nothing more than to be admired, whose entire shtick revolves around presenting himself as a hero worthy of envy and emulation (lest we forget, he 'identifies with Gandhi and Martin Luther King'). To people like Maugham, any perceived diminution of what they believe to be their exalted status feels like a mortal attack, which is why every loss must be spun as a win, and black must be made to be white if the facts threaten his self-image.
He's just the latest in a long line of people on social media who think they're dealing me a fatal blow by telling me I've lost popularity, that my legacy is tarnished or that former fans hate me. None of these people appear to grasped yet that I'm completely indifferent to being disliked by people I've never met, especially those I do not respect because of their online behaviour or what I believe to be their irrational and illiberal views.
Maugham is a textbook narcissist who can't believe that everyone else doesn't live life with an unceasing thirst for validation from complete strangers. In spite of the fact that we've never met, and that as the years have rolled by I've been very open about the fact that I find his public behaviour increasingly bizarre, he seems to genuinely believe that the loss of his approval will cause me anguish. In reality, it's a welcome source of ongoing entertainment, so long may he continue.
I've just answered that, above. I'll repeat it:
If an adult feels they can only exist comfortably and authentically in this world by dressing in the opposite sex's clothes, having surgeries and taking hormones, or in adopting one of the many gender labels, I wish them safety, happiness and health, as long as they're not harming anyone else. You, however, seem to think that for a trans-identified man to be 'comfortable' and 'authentic', everyone in the vicinity must abandon their freedom of speech and belief to accommodate his 'identity'.
Women are not validation props, comfort blankets or support animals. We aren't a rest home for men who don't like being men. If a person's happiness and self-esteem resides entirely in whether or not they can compel everyone around them to lie, whether out of fear or pity, I would respectfully suggest they are unlikely to have a very comfortable life, and are about as far from being 'authentic' as it is possible to be.
