@OlivierDuong The Droid4 is a great device with Leste. The main challenges are finding a new/good battery and the fact that it only supports 2G and 3G, so depending on where you live, you might not get 3G and be stuck on 2G.
Check out our latest news update, adding more device ports, better audio calls & lots of Telepathy/communication improvements: https://t.co/CpQsQDHbLY
Check out our latest news update, moving to a newer Devuan/Debian base release (apt dist-upgrade supported if you're fearless), Nokia N900 phone calls working on developer devices, more hardware support and much more: https://t.co/8H3zk3CUcG
@vova5697 Thanks for reaching out! For more in-depth discussion please file an issue here https://t.co/hIzX4xpT7k - but I am not sure if we can. I think it is armel, not armhf, and we don't have armel images currently. (There might also be other issues)
sphone with Telepathy backend, works for regular calls and sip, although sip needs a bit of work. Hopefully will work for XMPP soon too. More updates will follow soon, but this allows us finally start using conversations for SMS as well. More updates later this week!
@carbonatdcaffne It is not device specific, we're hoping to use it on all the devices that we support. The idea is for it to be mostly device agnostic and also even protocol agnostic so that it can support more than SIP, XMPP, etc
This is a silent but steady revolution in mobile phone privacy and independence from mega-corps. One can recycle old phones, run our system @DevuanOrg and have a clean and secure phone thanks to @maemoleste
@NerdyAwoo Yeah, this is something we have to work on. It depends more specifically on the widget set that is used. It should work with all gtk2 apps, and with some work also with all qt5 apps. And then there is a hw button to summon the keyboard anywhere.
@jkepler 2/2 the Droid 4 or Bionic would be a better fit if you want a usable phone with Maemo Leste right now. Call audio works well there, and there is a call and SMS interface, although we're hoping to make another big leap/improvement in the next two weeks.
@jkepler 1/2 The answer is a bit complicated. The N900 modem part is a bit problematic still. SMS and data was working fine in 5.x, with our latest development 6.1.x kernel there's something broken again. Call audio routing isn't there on the Nokia N900 at the moment.
We're almost done porting Maemo Leste to Devuan beowulf->chimaera (Debian buster->bullseye) - this phone was migrated by simply running 'apt dist-upgrade' with new repositories. Don't try this at home yet (really), we'll post a news update (in <2 weeks) when it's ready for users.
@braam_martijn@linmobblog There's also a few atrix HD's there, which are not OMAP but Qualcomm MSM8960, maybe that should be relatively easy on mainline, too?
What those create #maemo leste folks mean when they say they have hardware available for developers. These devices just in. Mostly Droid 4, with some Droid 2 and Atrix and Razr devices mixed in.
