@souljagoyteller I'm not anti truancy laws in a vacuum but don't think they will work on the world we live in. Until police are able to enforce laws without it leading to disproportionately harsh outcomes for Black people (eg use of force, arrests) criminalizing further will not solve anything

@souljagoyteller You're so right. Increasing law enforcement interaction at a young age will definitely solve this problem. Police never have any issues interacting with Black communities.

if she had put her kid in private school from the start and ended up with an anxious kid beaten down by racism you'd have said she should have known better than to have her around white people's children. the literal point is that there *are* no good choices for black families.

@LinkofSunshine White parents don't send their kids to black school not cuz they're black but cuz their bad. By sending your high achieving child to a black school and working with the staff to improve the school hopefully more parents will send their kids there integrating it further

@LinkofSunshine I think there is value to being around other black people growing up. Ideally you'd want to be around all kinds of people though. I don't just want to see elite all black institutions either (though that may be better than what we have now).

@LinkofSunshine I wouldn't send my kids to a predom black school for the good of everyone, but I would be hesitant to send them to a PWI during their formative years, and the article specifically talks about the benefits her daughter saw from being around other black people which are very real
