I want my kids to have empathy.
I want them to be able to read books about Roberto Clemente, Sonia Sotomayor & seahorses.
I want them to learn accurate American history & not some whitewashed, sanitized version.
I want them to be able to see discrimination and injustice and to speak out & stand up against it.
I want them to understand that we aren’t all going to look the same, think the same, dress the same and love the same.
I want them to see people for who they are as human beings.
To feel safe and seen in their own skin and to want that for everyone.
So if all of that means that I’m ‘indoctrinating them’ with some ‘woke mind virus’… so be it.

On May 24, 2022 in Uvalde Texas, an 18 year old walked into Robb Elementary School and shot and killed 19 children and 2 adults.

Two days ago in Houston Texas, a man paused his dinner date to shoot and kill a fake parking attendant.

Last night in Cleveland Texas, 5 members of a family (including an 8 year old child) were shot and killed by their neighbor after they asked him to stop firing his gun on his front lawn so their baby could sleep.

So when Republican lawmakers in a state where it’s easier to get AR-15s than books about Black history say their abortion ban is about being “pro-life”…
