#WDSD2019#LeaveNoOneBehind This is my girl Arabella, she’s a great swimmer, speller, writer and artist. She is emotionally intelligent. Her motto is dream big & work hard. She is stunning. She rocks an extra chromosome. Big love everyone, celebrate who you are & what you can do
Hey @TotalFitness do you have classes/groups for people with disabilities? My daughter has downs syndrome, we are members but I think she’d prefer meeting up with other young people, not working out with her old mum. It would be perfect to help loneliness and fitness together!
Very proud to have made this film for @BBCBreakfast - the power of sport - intellectual disability no barrier. TEN runners from Special Olympics will be doing the London Marathon next year!
@autcareandshare I think an important part of this is also preparing yourself as a parent, consider some “down time” if possible after the event as it can be exhausting and not really a relaxing day out or holiday for parents. Good luck for your session I’m sure you’ll be great!
If you take one thing from World Suicide Prevention Day today it should be this: if you think someone isn’t OK, ask them about it. You can interrupt someone’s suicidal thoughts. You could even save their life.
Let’s prevent suicide today. Because tomorrow’s too late.
When you have Downs Syndrome but get a GCSE grade 2 in literature and 1 in English language, plus a BTEC in cooking, it’s an emotional day! Arabella worked so hard, showed up, and proved anything is possible with an incredible teacher who believed in her. Cake all day today!
Listen up: It's time to stop whispering about suicide.
We are losing too many to silence. Help us shout about saving lives today, on #SamaritansAwarenessDay.
Let’s prevent suicide today. Because tomorrow’s too late.
I've had a lady contact me about her daughter, her daughter is a adult and has various speech and language difficulties, she has had the same frames for her glasses for over 12 years, and will not change them for different frames, the frames are so old now that the opticians won't put new lenses in them for fear of breaking them, mum can't find anywhere that sells these they are made by GUESS, is there anyone out there that knows of a company that will refurbish the frames so that they can continue being used or does anyone know where they can be brought, please could I kindly ask you to rewtweet in the hope that we can help this young lady.

The UK government is considering removing education, health and care plans for disabled children in mainstream schools. This would affect 252,000 disabled children, including my son Jack who has Down syndrome. Please sign and share this petition.

If your child is likely to be affected by the government’s proposal to get rid of EHCPs for children in mainstream schools, please comment below and share the petition. Grateful if those who support disabled children’s rights would share too.

The Down's Syndrome Association is incredibly concerned to read in this Schools Week article that cites Dame Christine Lenehan that discussions are ongoing about whether EHCPs should only apply to special school pupils.
Pupils who have Down's syndrome who are being successfully included in mainstream schools rely on their EHCP to ensure appropriate and assessed education, health and care provision is in place to support their education and inclusion.
Should EHCPs be limited to special school placements only, this will have a significant and negative impact on the rights of children and young people who have Down's syndrome to be fully supported and included within mainstream education settings.
We would welcome an urgent discussion with both Dame Lenehan and the Department of Education so that we can air our concerns about this proposal.

Happy #InternationalWomensDay to all the incredible women I know, but especially to those with a disability who are smashing stereotypes and being their very best selves. Like my daughter Arabella! So proud of her ❤️
