After a year of scientific scrutiny, a rock sample collected by the Perseverance rover has been confirmed to contain a potential biosignature. The sample is the best candidate so far to provide evidence of ancient microbial life on Mars. https://t.co/0BAO1dhMG8
A question inspired by The Simple Path to Wealth (taken from James Clear):
Which expense in your life delivers the least happiness per dollar and which delivers the most happiness per dollar?
Hitting 40 doesn’t mean looking back and wishing you were 20 again. Try this instead: imagine you’re 90, and somehow, the universe hit rewind—you open your eyes and you’re 40, with time and energy on your side. What would future-you be thrilled to do with this bonus round?
Architect and furniture designer Eileen Gray on thinking for yourself:
"To create, one must first question everything. Never adopt someone else's conclusion without putting it to the test of your own reasoning and imagination."
"We undervalue health if we have not recently experienced illness.
We undervalue wealth if we have not recently experienced poverty.
We undervalue kindness if we have not recently experienced cruelty.
What might you be undervaluing right now?"

"Mastery is the best goal because the rich can't buy it, the impatient can't rush it, the privileged can't inherit it, and nobody can steal it. You can only earn it through hard work. Mastery is the ultimate status." -Author Derek Sivers
"You can't change your past, but you can reframe it.
Find the lesson in it. Find the opportunity in it. Pull the teachable moment out of it and share with others.
You can't choose your history, but you can choose the story you tell about it."

It's August and that means there's a lot of professional development for educators happening. In case it helps, here is a healthy list (with descriptions) of activities, experiences, and formats for processing and applying all that content experienced during the training, conference, or while watching instructional videos. This year, I'm sending this to each school and organization with whom I work as a clear and urgent reminder that the follow-up to formal and informal PD experiences is often where the individual is the most receptive, has the most applicable insights, and makes the greatest professional gains -- and that follow-up to training is a doable and purposeful act that's just as much a part of the PD program as the day or hour of presentation itself. If you are a presenter, consultant, coach, leader, classroom practitioner, or paraprofessional, feel free to use any of these or to pass them along to those who might find them helpful -- and feel free to add your own ideas to the list! @amle@ascd@solutiontree@stenhousepub@aeiSpeakers@ILAToday@NSTA@ncte@NCSSNetwork@NCTM https://t.co/HVozQOa6ub
True leadership involves authenticity and openness, not just appearing 'right', but sharing real doubts and experiences while staying mission-focused. ~ John C. Maxwell
