I received the first few samples of the SVS shells for validation this evening and they are looking really good. The factory is still fine tuning the settings on the press to get the best possible quality out of the mold but these test parts look very promising.
As you can see this is a hybrid design. The main body of the module is made of injection molded nylon, then the module specific I/O cutouts are on separate FR4 plates that slide into the injection molded body. This gives us the flexibility to use one injection mold to produce the shells for all of the current and future modules!
Once they finish tuning the process and make a few more adjustments to the mold to address some minor fitment issues we'll be go for full scale production. They'll start shipping the shells to me in batches once they start production so I can start shipping orders!
It's done and finished!🥳

Hey guys, it's time for another Scalable Video Switch Pre-Order update.
The manufacturing delay with the plastic shells I discussed at the end of June is still ongoing. Our injection molding partner has provided an update on their progress with the parts. They have finished the machining of the mold and they are now in the process of fine tuning the mold using wire EDM to make sure that all of the parts fit together as expected in the final plastic parts. They tell me they expect this process to go smoothly and we should have final parts ready for validation this coming week. At that point they will go into full scale production and we should have shells ready to ship shortly after that.
Our injection molding partner's factory happens to be located about 3 hours from my house, so when the first batch of parts are ready I'll be driving out there to pick them up directly so we don't have to wait for a courier to pick up and deliver the parts. At that point we will be ready to ship.
Once all of the pre-orders are shipped all of the modules will be placed back in stock on the website and will be available for purchase on demand at that point. We ordered thousands of extra modules when we placed the order for the pre-order modules, so we should have a good supply available going forward. I don't expect them to sell out instantly like they have in previous batches.
In other news, all of the customer's from January that requested replacement VGA Input modules due to Dreamcast VGA Box compatibility issues have been shipped replacement modules as of today. It has taken longer than I expected to make good on this, but it's all squared away now. Thank you to all of you for hanging in there on this part.
That's pretty much all I have to report at this time. My dining room has over 10,000 modules stacked up in boxes and I can't wait to move these out of here so I can sit down for a meal again!
@CptSparky360 Ich war sehr beeindruckt von dem Film damals. Hatte etliche Albträume des Roboters mit den drehenden Messern. Muss man glaube ich als Kind gesehen haben, ist ja schließlich ein Disney 😉
