I decided to read through the OT prophets for a few months before this election, and I've been struck by how often their message is:
You have forgotten who you are! You are claimed and loved by the God who keeps his promises.
That's a powerful antidote to political idolatry.
These things are not the same:
1. Observation of culture
2. Offended by culture
3. Outrage at culture
To me, 1 is essential. Good theological reflection without good situational analysis is counter-productive.
2 is unnecessary but at times unavoidable.
3 is unhelpful.
"Little things can be great things in the hands of a magnificent God."
@mahibbard84, Operations Director of the CSBV, shares her message from the closing worship service at our colloquium.

".. the two days were filled with the welcome, humility, openness, generosity and shared love for God that made for an environment where to be present was a privilege."

Anyone else noted (and, preferably, commented on) the mixed message in purity culture that said, "men don't have sexual limits, so women are responsible to gatekeep" and "women need to learn to submit to men." @sheilagregoire?

Some questions about the Bible and politics are really complicated and difficult.
Whether or not you should publish a Bible with a copy of the Constitution, Pledge of Allegiance, and Declaration of Independence in it is not one of them.
