A COVID test cost NR.15000, out of reach for most Nepalese. Is there any research being done in Nepal validating RT-LAMP assay which can detect COVID virus without the need for PCR..We need a test that is inexpensive and rapid.

@ChhetriApekshya The protocol seems promising and removes PCR machine from the picture (bottleneck). Somebody should give it a try in Nepal too.

@ranju_darshana The above method does not need PCR machine, result is seen with in 30 mins just by visual inspection, is cheap, scalable, as sensitive as to PCR protocol.

The HMC preprint paper says the protocol can detect viral RNA as low as 1 copy per μl in a sample, within 30 mins. The chemical cost is 7 US cents per test. The virus presence can be detected visually just by color change.
