I’ve heard that a million times, although, if I had to guess, about 10% of my posts on IG are nude or about being a nudist, but those seem to be the most captivating to many.

I understand what they’re trying to communicate and the place it comes from. Some are triggered, curious, or even fascinated by my “courage” or audacity.

While they are sexualizing, lusting after, or rejecting my nude body, I am just being myself.

My first time going nude in public was a little over 10 years ago on my 39th birthday. Before that, I would “practice” being nude around my home. I didn’t realize I was practicing to be a nudist. It was really about becoming comfortable in my own skin after so many years of rejecting my body.

From my skin tone, to my freckles, to my rolls, creases, knock knees, fat pockets, and flab, I absolutely HATED it.

I am still more critical of my body than I would like to be, and I’m still not always 100% comfortable in my own skin, especially in public.

What you may see as me being “freaky” (yes, I’ve heard that a time or two) is actually a celebration of self and accepting who I am, how I look, and how I feel in my skin. It’s been a long journey to reach this level of comfort with myself, and each day is a step closer to complete comfort.

Not everyone can or will get it, but a part of the point of being a nudist/naturist is not to care, or at least not care so much to change who you are.

The freedom isn’t in being naked. The freedom is in no longer being at war with yourself.
