Allah tells them (rhetorically addressing the Prophet) to ask the Jews/Christians to confirm a historical fact: Did God send humans or angels in the past?

Jesus didn't 'castigate' the violent conquest commands in the Old Testament. He said he came to fulfill the Law (Matthew 5:17), and the New Testament never cancels the historical commands like 1 Samuel 15:3 (kill men, women, children, infants) or Numbers 31:17-18
