Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As we honor the 1.5 million Armenians murdered by the Ottoman Empire across modern-day Turkey, Syria, and Armenia, we must refuse to let history repeat itself.
In 2020, the military forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey attacked the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh. In 2023, Azerbaijan expelled over 100,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, continuing the genocidal campaign that had begun over 100 years prior.
On this day of remembrance, we reaffirm the right of the Armenian people — and all people — to freedom, safety, and self-determination.
During his visit to Syunik, Ambassador Gallagher visited Zorats Karer — or Carahunge — often called Armenia’s Stonehenge. He reflected on the striking similarities between the two sites and the sense of mystery they share.🇬🇧🇦🇲

On this Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, I was honored to join the community in Pawtucket to both reflect on the loss of life starting 110 years ago and recognize the resilience of the local Armenians that rose in the aftermath of tragedy.
Today, we honor the memory of the 1.5 million Armenians who were systematically killed during the 1915 genocide carried out by the Ottoman Empire. This is a historical fact.
As we recognize the reality of what happened, we must honor those we lost & ensure it never happens again.
110 years after the Armenian genocide, we still mourn and remember the over 1.5 million Armenian men, women, and children who were murdered.
In California — home to one of the largest Armenian communities in the world — we honor their memories by continuing to share their stories and ensuring that an atrocity like this never happens again.

Outside Walls of the Basilica of St. Paul will be restored by money from a foundation named after a KGB agent.
In exchange for a conference to white wash the destruction of Christian monuments in Artsakh.
@Pontifex what would St. Paul say about that?
Ruben Vardanyan asked his family to once again extend his heartfelt gratitude to all his allies and to share some of his reflections, which he believes may be of value to people in many different parts of the world.
Part 1
“I want to thank everyone who thinks of me, worries about me, prays, writes letters, speaks to me in their thoughts, and simply cares about what is happening in the world and with all of us.
I would like to dedicate these words to my teachers: to my beloved parents, who have, sadly, passed on, and to my dear elder sister. They were the ones who helped me see the beauty of this world and guided me onto the path of discovering it — and myself. Alongside them, I also wish to thank all those who played a role in shaping me into who I am today.
They showed me that a person who seeks, who walks their own path despite all hardships and challenges, can be helped. Helped to find meaning, to reflect upon their journey, to save time. But such help must be offered delicately, for each of us matures and perceives truth at our own pace. Much of what my father once told me I have only come to understand now.
We each hear and absorb the same words differently. That is why every person must reach their own understanding through a painful, sometimes excruciating and arduous process of ‘pregnancy’ — and be prepared for a labor that can be as difficult and even life-threatening as actual birth.
Only by giving birth to this knowledge within ourselves, drawing on our own experience and memory, can we make it whole — free of ambiguity — and allow it to become the core of our being, the axis around which a full and love-filled life can revolve. For it is in this difficult but noble pursuit of self-knowledge that one truly becomes human.
Let those with ears — hear! Let those with eyes — see! Let those with minds — understand. May the seeker and the thinker comprehend! And may light, goodness, and energy forever abide in our world!
A man of the world with an Armenian soul, serving our Lord without fear or desire, loving all and everything around him, an eternal learner discovering both self and world, one with his wife Veronika, a member of the caste of meaning interpreters, an integrator and catalyst of people, projects, and ideas into a unified space, a bridge connecting past and future, Armenia and the world, living in peace with himself and with joyful awareness of the immense debt I owe to the Lord — for the chance to simply be a happy man,
Ruben, son of Karlen.”
Part 2, in which Ruben shares his life axioms, will be published next Sunday
German President Removes Artsakh Flag Post After Azerbaijani Backlash
During his visit to Yerevan on March 30, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier posted a photo featuring the Artsakh flag, highlighting the region’s historical Armenian population. The post sparked immediate backlash from Azerbaijan, which summoned the German ambassador in protest. Shortly after, the post was removed from Steinmeier’s social media.
PEACE?
Turkey and Azerbaijan - having already genocided the Christian Armenians of Artsakh - are now, with a gun to Yerevan's head, demanding the surrender of yet more Armenian soil, security, and sovereignty.

#FreeArmenianHostages Protest in Berlin Calls for Immediate Action Against Azerbaijan’s Unlawful Detentions
Berlin, March 10, 2025 – Human rights organizations, activists, and concerned citizens gathered today at the Brandenburg Gate to demand the immediate release of Armenian political prisoners unlawfully detained in Azerbaijan. The protest, organized by the Zentralrat der Armenier in Deutschland e.V. @ArtSpangenberg, the Society for Threatened Peoples (@GfbV), Theophanu Club Germany, Working Group Recognition – Against Genocide, for International Understanding e.V., IGFM Internationale Gesellschaft für Menschenrechte e.V., Deutschland, and @FreeArmHostages civic movement, called on European leaders to take urgent action against Azerbaijan’s continued human rights violations.
Prominent human rights activists, including Jonathan Spangenberg, Chairman of ZAD, addressed the crowd, emphasizing the systematic persecution of Armenians and Azerbaijan’s use of political prisoners as bargaining tools in negotiations. “The detainees, including @RubenVardanyan_ , are enduring inhumane conditions, with reports of torture and mistreatment. Vardanyan is currently on a hunger strike, and his life is at grave risk. We cannot stay silent,” declared Spangenberg.
“The world must not turn a blind eye to Azerbaijan’s crimes,” said Sarah Reinke, Head of Human Rights at @GfbV. “The time for words is over; we need action now.”
