It’s normal to try harder after someone you love hurts you. There’s an invisible lie saying there’s something we can do to bring back what once was. It becomes our job to figure that out. We get stuck until we realize, they’ve changed the rules & it’s best to leave their game.

When our boundaries are violated or people hurt us, feeling anger or needing to grieve is a natural response. Bypassing our emotions to please other people is a common response in society (especially when family is involved.) In reality, forgiveness is a personal journey. It’s not for anyone else to decide how we experience an event or a relationship we have with another adult.
