Congratulations to @TorontoMet professors Alan Fung, Atefeh (Atty) Mashatan, Jenn McArthur and Bala Venkatesh! They will lead projects as part of @Concordiaโs Canada First Research Excellence Fund program Volt-Age. Learn more about their research: https://t.co/UY7S5FlroI #CFREF
The impact of your research isnโt always reflected in how many prestige journals or books your research has appeared in. Sometimes, itโs the public engagement, partnerships, community participation, and influence on policy and guidelines that define a researcherโs impact.
I was familiar with this quote from #DeadPoetsSociety but found his "sucking all the marrow out of life" to be a letdown. He really could have pushed it much further.
@ianhanomansing It's obviously a way to cut costs and offload work onto customers - I think we should be financially incentivized to use them since it's obviously saving the store money.
@ERnurse86 It depends on the context. If it's a leadership/educational/research context, I always notice (I notice gender imbalance too) and often comment, informally if not to explicitly point out the need to improve our #inclusively and #equity to support #diversity
@j12snyder Prescientx Breathe - made by a Canadian company who unfortunately can't ship to the USA (though we could sort out me mailing you one...). Very easy to breathe in - I keep it on during spin classes with no issue.
Great to be at the #CIBw78 conference in-person for the first time in a long time! So good to see people again and glad our opening reception was outside last night.
@LizWFab At a conference in Crete, so I'll admit that made it easy: swam in the sea, geeked out with other scholars, ate lovely food, had a quiet dinner of takeout with my son with a view of the sea, and then had a great online meeting with a new collaborator. All good things :)
@The_Gloria_Sun Doing my best here. I'm the only one with a mask at my current conference. I can hold my breath well enough to purge it after lowering it to smile hello to colleagues or drinking but otherwise that seal isn't breaking.
No one should have to pay for gender affirming care -- the government's refusal to fund it is devastating for the trans community.
Gender-affirming care is healthcare. We shouldn't be forcing clinics providing this care to privatize because of underfunding.

@SassyPantsProf@DaveAshelman @ReadTheSyllabus It wasn't the school- it was our student society -- our rules. Though I expect the administration was supportive of them...
@DaveAshelman @ReadTheSyllabus Wow. Those are *awful*. When I was in student politics we ran the student evaluations but shredded any with racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise derogatory content before they were analysed or passed on. (And the students knew it)
@ReadTheSyllabus From a flipped class:
"In class marks and homework are actually marked opposed to you showing up and doing your best with the time given."
I love it so much I share it with my students on the first day to set expectations.
