Today on MSNBC’s #MorningJoe, I called out the blatant bias behind Donald Trump’s refugee policy.

Trump welcomed 59 white Afrikaner farmers from South Africa with ceremony and status, yet turns his back on Haitians fleeing gang violence, and others in urgent need. I’ve traveled to South Africa more than a dozen times. I was there in 1994 as an election observer during Mandela’s historic rise. I know firsthand that the ANC stands for reconciliation, not race-based violence.

To take the words of extremists and twist them into foreign policy is dangerous. If Trump truly cared about protecting lives, he wouldn’t ignore what’s happening just south of Florida.

Bias is not leadership, it’s politics at its worst.
