Here's why you need to use Makkuro, the next-gen project management tool, if you're serious about building products your customers love:
1. All your feedback in one tool.
No more siloed customer feedback stored in an expensive tool, no more syncing between tools.
If you are serious about your team getting context on the work they're doing you need to have the task or project context right at their fingertips.
2. A helpdesk for your support needs.
Most of your feedback, especially in the early days, comes from your direct interactions with your customers. That's why Makkuro offers a powerful Messenger widget to embed in your application and a helpdesk for your team.
3. A powerful, super-fast project management tool.
Makkuro is a local-first, super responsive application that has everything you need for your planning and delivery needs: tasks, subtasks, customizable statuses and labels, projects, filters, groups, subgroups, swimlanes, estimations, kanbans....well you get the picture.
---
The main predictor of success is not the level of the craft you put in (even though it's mighty important) but primarily:
- Building what your customers need
- Iterating on it fast
Both of these require you to be in a continuous conversation with your customers, and this is why Makkuro exists.

βοΈ Day 17 of Makkuro being the best project management software for building world-class digital products.
Empty states suck, don't they? You buy or use a new product and you're faced with a "no items exist" message.
That was the problem with my Messenger widget and the Helpdesk:
π You want to send a message to yourself to test the functionality but...
β you need to install this on your website first (or ask a developer to do that for you).
Even though it only takes a couple of minutes to install the Messenger, that still wasn't enough.
So, I embedded a dedicated version of your Messenger in the place where you go to install it, the API Key page.
I also linked this page from the empty states of the Helpdesk sections, so now you can easily send that first message to yourself. The first "aha" moment of your journey in Makkuro.

βοΈ Day 16 of Makkuro being the best project management software for building world-class digital products.
Here's an interesting screenshot from a Lenny post, about 5 days ago (https://t.co/hds7l3S8CW)
Here are some insights:
π Growth roles are booming
This is an obvious move for companies in tough spots and also needed for the new wave of AI companies flooding the market. What's also obvious is that the former are having a harder time than the latter.
π User Research roles have taken a big hit.
A possible explanation could be that B2B SaaS companies globally have outgrown their initial R&D needs and, obviously, cost-cuts which always affect the roles with lagging impact have stalled hiring of researchers.
If I could make a prediction, that would be that with the rise of AI companies we will also be seeing a rise in User Researchers again as it's painfully obvious that the current UI paradigms for interactions with AI leave a lot to desire.
π PM and PO(!) roles are not going anywhere, in fact they have increased a bit
That's just reassuring. We need product managers to use Makkuro, otherwise I'll run out of business β€οΈ .
βοΈ Day 15 of Makkuro being the best project management software for building world-class digital products.
We all dislike constant notifications so, the last thing you need is more notifications from your project management tool, right?
Luckily, Makkuro has you covered as you can enable and disable easily the notifications you receive from Makkuro which are just a small list of notifications for:
- When a new task is created
- When a task is assigned to you
- When a conversation is assigned to you
- Last, but not least, when a new conversation is created, which arguably is the most important one as you don't want to leave your customers waiting.
Soon, we will also support Slack notifications, so you can integrate these into your workflows.

βοΈ Day 14 of Makkuro being the best project management software for building world-class digital products.
π We have a new marketing website! π
For a company in Beta, it might seem like a luxury to update their marketing website but there are two reasons why this had to happen:
- The new features added in June, not only had to be added in the website but also altered the entire value proposition of Makkuro. As such, Makkuro is now helping you build world-class digital products that your customers will love :).
- I heard your feedback on pricing (and also, thank you for the help @hervelabas) and updated it to better position Makkuro against the competition. It's now going to be free for up to 3 users with some limited access to features, and $49/month FLAT, for up to 20 users and access to all the features.
This change aims to help you get started with your new company when you might need a simple helpdesk and a couple of tasks for you and your small team. After that, it's time to adopt the Makkuro powerhouse.
Just a note: this will apply after the Beta finishes, as you are aware we're currently free.
So, have a look at https://t.co/8igs47AmZJ , and share this with your friends.
Thank you for your support so far!

βοΈ Day 13 of Makkuro being the best project management software for building world-class digital products.
This one is for the designers.
If brand is, amongst others, the superset of actions you take as a company that uniquely define the image your customers have of you, then here are a couple of design decisions I made:
- Makkuro doesn't use the Inter typeface, even though it does target zirp-era dev tool companiesβthe main culprit of the dark-theme-inter-using landing page designs that you kept seeing everywhere. Inter specifically, is so ubiquitous that has turned, in my eyes, into Helvetica, or Arial carrying the blandness of a Powerpoint presentation's 21st slide's last bullet point.
Instead, I opted to go for Erik Spiekermann's Fira Sans, which has that distinct open lowercase "e", supports all western languages and, most importantly, is freely available (via Google Fonts and more). It was commissioned for the Firefox OS, so if it was good enough for Mozilla to use it, who am I to say no to it?
- Makkuro means "pitch black" in Japanese, and one constraint I decided to impose on myself, is that the type is almost everywhere pure black : #000.
Every design course or book for digital screens says that you should not do it and "break" it with some color (a little blue, or a little grey usually)βwell, this is a rule that: 1) has no scientific reasoning behind it 2) is meant to be broken.
How do you do that, though, without making your designs appear like balsamiq wireframes? In app UIs it's easy, since you have all these buttons and borders with their grey shadows etc, but when you tend to have a long wall of text like in a Task or a Project description, you have to tune in the "text color": not the actual value of the text, but how from a reading distance this blends with the white space around and inside it. Specifically:
- The font size
- The letter spacing
- The line height
- The line width
- The paragraph spacing
All these parameters can affect the "text color" and make your text readable, even if you decide to break the "no pure black color" rule.
In fact, it's about time we introduced some contrast in our designs, most of us millennials are turning 40 nowadays.
Who says that you can't have fun while building your business? :)

βοΈ Day 12 of Makkuro being the best project management tool for building world-class digital products.
Have you ever shared a url with your teammates, on slack, in order to show a list of filtered items, or some kanban view for a specific cause, only to find out that these options get lost and they have to manually reapply the steps to reach the same view with you?
Kinda like when you share a shopping cart only to realize that the other person doesn't see what your cart's contents.
In Makkuro, any change you make in the view gets added to the URL. Here are some examples:
Not only the state is reflected in the URL, but it also kinda makes sense, right?
- "view=board" for kanbans
- "searchDescription.contains.hello" for content filters
It's one of these things where you work meticulously on things that users will not immediately notice, but they just feel great on a subconscious level.

βοΈ Day 11 of Makkuro being the best project management tool for building digital products.
With many people jumping into the product owner/manager role *, the most common question I get is "how do I make sure the team performs and feels great"?
Before jumping into frameworks (such scrum, agile, SAFe...lol) and tools (storymapping, ideation workshops, pair programming), you have to make sure that the team is aligned towards the same aspiring goal and are well aware of the reason for their current work.
For the latter, Makkuro is a tool that makes sure this surfaces everywhere in the thing the teams use the most:
- Their project management tool
Whether it's counters displayed in Kanban cards, a whole section in the description of a project or the actual feedback from the customers, Makkuro has you and your team covered.

βοΈ Day 10 (!) of Makkuro being the best project management tool for building world-class digital products.
One ritual we had at Clerk was a weekly leaderhip sync meeting where we went over the high level status of the projects:
- What's in progress (and how close to done is it)
- What's coming up
- Who works on what
- What is worth tackling next
We kept the projects at Notion, which had a better UI for writing long form content than Linear at the time, so we always did a weird kind of dance between Notion and Linear, to check what's happening on the high-level and how far ahead we're on the task level.
With Makkuro, you don't have this separation, and it's easy to arrive to this view:
- Projects -> Organize -> Board view
And for an extra dimension of information split, you can subgroup by owner & status, so you get swimlanes of who's working on what and do a round of standup.

This is Chuando Tan.
He is 58 years old and looks like he's in his late 20's or early 30's.
Here's his main secret to looking half his age:
He has never coded in React one day in his life.
This would create an unreasonable amount of noise and would force you to hover to reveal what the link is about.
I think that the prevalent treatment is Notion's type of sidebar, where the entire sidebar gets hidden/shown - I'm not a big fan of this to be honest.
More radical approaches would involve some sort of preview of the link text, like the first 1-2 characters, like Gmail does with the profile-less accounts, so you at least with a glance can see what the links are about.
