#IndiaAtUN@IndiaUNNewYork co-organized an event titled “Ancient Trade Routes: The Journey of INSV Kaundinya”, along with @oman_un. The event was attended by many Permanent Representatives and members of the diplomatic corps.
The voyages of INSV Kaundinya, a stitched-plank sailing vessel inspired by ancient Indian shipbuilding traditions, highlight 🇮🇳’s ancient maritime trade routes across the Indian Ocean, connecting 🇮🇳 with the Arabian Peninsula and East Africa. These ancient trade routes highlight the longstanding role of 🇮🇳 and Oman as responsible maritime civilizations.
The event saw participation of the sailors of INSV Kaundinya who showcased the recent maritime expedition retracing ancient Indian Ocean trade routes.
The event also reaffirmed the importance of supporting contemporary ocean governance and humanity’s endeavour to connect, share and prosper together.

For a voyage like this to succeed, it needed some serious background support. Commodore Amit Srivastava and Capt Prashant Menon of the
@indiannavy were the backbones that kept the whole thing running.
