CJI Surya Kant Faces Protests & Humiliating at London Event Amid Questions on Democracy, Judicial Accountability, Freedom of Expression and Dissent

London, June 5: Chief Justice of India Surya Kant faced protests and sharp questioning during an interaction at Birkbeck, University of London, as students raised concerns about the state of democracy, freedom of expression, and judicial accountability in India.

According to videos circulating online, students challenged the Chief Justice on issues relating to dissent, civil liberties, and the functioning of democratic institutions. Some attendees also questioned him about his recent “cockroach” remarks, which had sparked public discussion.

The situation escalated when a section of the audience stood up, pointed toward the Chief Justice, and raised slogans in protest, briefly disrupting the event before organisers intervened to restore order.

The incident has since ignited intense debate with supporters viewing the protest as a legitimate expression of democratic dissent.

India's Prime Minister could not get Mother Ganga cleaned. Pollution has increased more than before.

He has already failed in the mission of cleaning his own mother, there has been extensive corruption, and the project has still not been completed.

It started in 2014, and now it is 2026. At least one stretch of the river should have been made clear enough for people to see their reflection in the water.

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was filing his nomination from Varanasi in 2014, he had said:

"I have neither come here on my own, nor has anyone sent me. Mother Ganga has called me."

He launched the Namami Gange project.

Today, the holiest river for Hindus has become even dirtier than before.

If someone could not clean his own mother, will he clean the country of pollution, corruption, and adulteration?

You will be surprised to know how much money has been spent under the Namami Gange project so far.

Status of Projects (2014–2026)

Approved projects: 502 to 524 (at different dates)

Completed projects: 323 to 355 (approximately 66–68%)

Total cost: ₹38,000 crore to ₹42,926 crore

A budget of approximately ₹43,000 crore was approved to make the Ganga completely pollution-free.

More than ₹22,000 crore has already been spent.

Now you decide for yourselves: when nearly 70% of the work has been completed, this is still the condition of the holy river Mother Ganga.

Now you tell me yourselves-what is the condition of the sacred river Ganga?

If you see the rivers of a small country like Norway, it feels as if you can see your face reflected in them. They are that clean and pollution-free.

But India has a 5-trillion-dollar economy, a population of 1.5 billion people, management, power, technology-everything.

Even then, a Hindu Prime Minister has not been able to clean the most sacred river of Hindus to the level of even one river in Norway.

The level of pollution is there for everyone to see.

If your support continues, every issue will be exposed, questions will be raised, and a voice will be given to matters that India's national media never talks about.

But we need your love and support.

When the people of India are giving us their support, it is our duty to raise our voice for India.

Dear @HYDTP and @ThirumalagiriPS,
Today I had a very unpleasant experience with traffic police officials at Thirumalagiri. I had recently returned from the US and did not have Google Pay or PhonePe set up on my phone. I was travelling with my elderly grandparents and was taking them for a medical check-up appointment.
Despite explaining the situation and requesting permission to pay the challan online once I reached home, the officers refused and forced me to arrange payment immediately through PhonePe. I had to call someone else and was delayed for a long time, causing us to miss my grandparents’ medical appointment.
Even after the payment was completed, their system had not updated yet. I showed them the payment screenshot, but Officer Ramu Naik still refused to trust me and continued arguing instead of verifying properly.
Citizens should be treated with professionalism and basic respect, especially when elderly people are involved. This experience was extremely stressful and disappointing.
I am also attaching Officer Ramu Naik’s photo for reference and requesting senior officials to look into this matter.
