So, just heard that a year 6 child has a theory that David Attenborough is actually God and he got fed up with people not noticing the amazing things he’d created, so he made documentaries to show off.
A young man and his housemaid inhabit the same home, yet experience it in profoundly different ways.

The peeps in business of religion have the greatest conviction that there are no Gods and no repercussions for any acts good or bad. Hence they indulge in the most immoral acts with confidence. Religion for them is the gateway to power and money - the real gods they believe in.

Algorithm this. Data that. Corporate this. Project that. But then comes #Mainvaapasaaunga.
It is so, so important that a film born beyond algorithms, data, and projects exists in our times. A film filled with so much love. A miracle, really. For the makers and the audience alike.

🚨: Astronaut’s Wake-Up Call from Space
After spending 178 days aboard the International Space Station, astronaut Ron Garan returned to Earth with a realization that shook him — we’re living a lie.
From orbit, he saw our planet as one glowing blue sphere — no borders, no nations, no divisions — just a single, fragile home floating in the vast darkness. Yet down here, we live as if we’re separate, fighting over lines that don’t even exist from space.
He watched lightning storms flicker like heartbeat pulses, auroras dance across the poles, and a thin blue atmosphere shielding all life — a reminder of how delicate our world truly is.
Garan says humanity’s priorities are upside down: we’ve put the economy first, when it should be Planet → Society → Economy. Because without a thriving planet, nothing else survives.
His message is clear and urgent — 🌎 Earth is our shared spaceship. We are not passengers… we are crew.
And it’s time we start acting like it.

Steven Soderbergh reflects on the box office performance of ‘BLACK BAG’:
“This is the kind of film I made my career on and if a mid-level budget, star-driven movie can’t seem to get people over the age of 25 years old to come out to theatres – if that’s truly a dead zone – then that’s not a good thing for movies. What’s gonna happen to the person behind me who wants to make this kind of film? I know for a fact, having talked to somebody who works at another studio, that the Monday after Black Bag opened, the conversation in the morning meeting was: ‘What does this mean when you can’t get a movie like this to perform?’ And that’s frustrating. Everybody at Focus Features [the film’s distributor] has assured me that ultimately Black Bag will be fine and will turn a profit, but the bottom line is that we need to figure out a way to cultivate this audience for movies that are in this mid-range, that aren’t fantasy spectacles or low-budget horror movies. They’re movies for grown-ups, and those can’t just go away.”

"Of all the things that frighten me about the modern world, the worst to my eyes might be this: I think we're forgetting how to be human. We're forgetting what it means to be human. I think we're normalizing that it's ok not to be human, and not to treat others as if they are human." —George Tannenbaum https://t.co/Yt3D0pe8dV
Long and Important post on Screenwriters.
Screenwriters are having the worst time in Bollywood.
They receive 10% upon signing the contract, and then they must write the entire script, which is then approved for an additional 10-20%.
The rest will be paid only if the project is approved when the actor signs. And this is true in most circumstances.
Here are a few consequences of the new system:
1. No writer can make it with just writing two movies per year. No one. Regardless of how much you are paid, you will only receive 20-30% of the total script until the film is made.
2. The first draft of the script can complete up to 80-85% of the work of writing, but you will only receive 20-30%.
3. The situation is even worse for new writers, who receive far less, resulting in virtual servitude. At 30%, they must create approximately 4-5 scripts per year merely to cover their apartment rent.
4. The normal script takes 3-4 months at the minimum, however I take significantly longer. So how can a writer produce 4-5 scripts?
5. Producers gain huge leverage here; for the cost of one script, they may invest in three to four projects, reducing their risks significantly and shifting the risk entirely to writers.
6. Although the writers incur all of the risks, the profits go entirely to the producers and actors. I mean seriously, the writers take the risk and fruits go to someone else, how does that even work.
This is why we make lousy movies; because writers suffer. Everyone in the industry works because writers write.
But there is no correction, and nobody is listening. This amount of exploitation following COVID has become the standard lately.
I know most of you believe they know more about the film industry than I do because a youtuber or influencer told you otherwise. But, believe me, as a cinephile, you must be aware of these facts.
If none of you bring about any changes, your complaints are hollow and meaningless about bad Bollywood movies. You deserve horrible movies because if people do not defend art and artists, it will inevitably die.
Fin.
Christopher Nolan doesn’t like streaming being touted as the innovation of cinema.
“We’re not a tech company. The innovation in our industry has always been and should always be what goes on the screen, not what the screen is.”
