In the last 13 months, we have seen there is not a single action against Jews - up to and including mass murder - which a wide range of supposedly progressive “anti-racists” will not queue up to “contextualise” in order to dismiss.
Previously an undercurrent, it is now blatant.
It does not shock me, but it is remarkable that there is a man filming himself in a car saying he is going on a ‘Jew hunt’ and so many people I know are bending over backwards to condone and diminish it.
I will never forget it. I will never forgive it.
The pogrom always has an excuse ("the Jews didn't remove their hats when the Host paraded by")- but the excuse for the pogrom is never the reason for the pogrom.
If you’re surprised an academic could spend an entire thread talking about how a pogrom wasn’t a pogrom without mentioning that participants talked about a “Jew Hunt”, then you’ve clearly never met a sub-section of academics at certain “institutes for studying antisemitism”

Thanks to @washingtonpost and @rcfp for working to show the public long-sealed records about an investigation of Donald Trump and a suspected bribe from Egypt's president. It's a probe that Trump's DOJ shuttered despite concerns by FBI agents and prosecutors that they had ample evidence to pursue it. The public deserves to see that. Story on this secretive probe by @byaaroncdavis and me.
NPR's @BrianMannADK on the welcome drop in overdose deaths. COVID "pulled overdoses forward in time" i.e., many people who have died in the past 12 months died during COVID. That created a rise in OD we've never seen but it's followed by a big drop.

Paul Whelan is welcomed home by Michigan Rep. Haley Stevens, a strong advocate for his release.
I asked Paul the most surprising part of readjusting to his life here.
“Trying to navigate the technology,” he said,
