Just finished watching #SuperSubbu on Netflix and it was a delightful surprise. A quirky, heartwarming series with plenty of laughs, thanks to @sundeepkishan innocence and the fun village setting.

Sundeep delivers one of his most natural performances, while the supporting cast shines throughout.

Loved how the relationships and characters were written with care. Credit to director Mallik Ram who balances humor and emotion beautifully. Catch it on Netflix.

Just finished watching “#SuperSubbu” series on Netflix, and it turned out to be a delightful surprise.

The series follows Subbu, a timid and sheltered young man brought up under the strict, narrow-minded influence of his headmaster father. While searching for a job, he unexpectedly lands in a remote village as a sex education teacher - ironically, a village with a fertility rate far above the national average. What follows is an entertaining and heartwarming journey as Subbu navigates the village’s quirky characters, gradually sheds his inhibitions, and embraces the purpose he was sent there for.

One of the funniest aspects is Subbu’s sheer innocence. When someone asks him what “hasta prayogam” means, he innocently demonstrates “asthra prayogam” - the action of drawing a bow and arrow! Watching someone this naïve teach sex education becomes the show’s biggest source of humor.

The two female leads are woven into Subbu’s life in unique and contrasting ways, and I really enjoyed how their relationships evolve. The character dynamics are the biggest strength of the series, with every major role written with care and purpose.
Sundeep Kishan delivers one of the most natural performances of his career. The amount of detailing and backstory given to Subbu makes him incredibly endearing. A memorable moment is when he performs in a village stage show wearing a condom as part of the act - both hilarious and symbolic.

Murali Sharma is terrific as Subbu’s authoritarian father, adding another memorable grey-shaded role to his filmography after Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. Getup Srinu is effortlessly natural, Sampoornesh Babu impresses in a refreshingly different role, Jeevan sports a striking bald look, while Mithila Palkar and Maanasa Chaudhary fit their characters perfectly.

Director Mallik Ram deserves credit for crafting a sensible story packed with entertaining characters, humor, and genuine emotion.

Definitely worth a watch 👍

#SuperSubbu I liked how the series had a fine balance between humour and social commentary, without getting preachy.
